Dear Royal Fail

That is the second time I have witnessed you fail to deliver an item because it is a few millimetres bigger than what you consider a "letter" when the item in question is clearly and obviously a greetings card. Does it not occur to you that on whatever happy (or unhappy) occasion is being marked by the delivery of said card the recipient may be somewhat disappointed to receive a demand for £1.09 to cover "9p insufficient postage", only to have the card delivered to them, battered and tatty a week after the occasion being celebrated is a dim and distant memory, having circumnavigated your unfathomable website to pay the fine they accrued by simply being sent something.

Is it any wonder that Joe Public is making an increased point of finding ways send greetings to their loved ones that don't involve employing your shoddy, slapdash, overpriced services which are likely to involve them being blackmailed for return of their items? You have five years left before technology evolves enough to render your entire operation redundant. It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of joyless jobsworth bastards.

While i dont disagree with the fact the item is overweight and therefore there is a charge, its a business after all, not a charity.

I dont agree with the £1 handling fee, i wouldnt say its £1 of work.

The sorting machine weighs the items in the mail centre and slaps the insufficient postage sticker on it.

Then a PHG or office worker writes out the card for the postage and gives it to postman to deliver.

It isn't the £1 that's the problem. Is the fact that because your greetings card has a badge on it or is square when Royal Fail reckons a letter should be rectangular, even though you need it to get there in time for the actual occasion, Royal Fail hang on to it for a whole smegging week for the sake of 9p.

I'm getting married next year. Wouldn't be surprised if I end up delivering all the invitations by hand. I'd like to ensure they actually get there.

Royal Mail are a bunch of money thieving cnuts! We have recently changed over from the 'Tracked' service to the Royal Mail 'next day tracked' service.

After 50% of our customers complaining their item had not arrived the next day I called them up - turns out that only 90% of the 'next day' tracked mail actually arrives the next day! Its a disgrace!

I've never had a problem with Royal Mail to be honest. Sold and bought over a thousand things on the internet and they've always arrived in good time.

I used to have loads of LoveFilm DVDs go missing on their way to me (never on the way back) and that didn't bother me as much as it was clearly just one rogue postie nicking them and there's always going to be a percentage of dishonest scumbags in any organisation.

But this policy of keeping items a week for the sake of 9p (even if in this particular case the surface area of the item was smaller than "letter" allows, it was just a few mm longer in one dimension) and the viciousness with which it's enforced - well that's a corporate thing. That's a conscious thing that Royal Fail have decided they're going to do to their customers. I don't want to be one of those customers. Shame that they've got the monopoly or they'd be out of business tomorrow. Anyway, they'll be out of business by 2020 so y'know, patience Jonny.

Monopoly on domestic letters, then. I can't go elsewhere. And since postie delivers my bills regardless of whether they're UKmail or whoever, Royal Fail presumably get a slice of it.

Not there, only thing is Special Delivery, and what is listed as Next day is only first class, which is 1 to 2 days and clearly says so.

I seem to be the only person that has never really had issue with royal mail. Everything gets to me quick and my postie is lovely. She (by priory arrangement) signs recorded delivery stuff and pops it through the door

Well I bought a satnav on ebay on Monday, it said it would arrive Tuesday/Wednesday, Caught posty yesterday ( Tuesday) but she didn't have the package. Asked her to post it through the open window when she gets it as I'm on nights. Today she has posted it through the widow.

Ebay= Item as discribed and at the price I thought it should be.
Royal Mail= Item delivered within said time limit.
Posty= Did as I requested in delivering the parcel.

They say things always go wrong in 3s. So that is three things I can't whine about.
