 |

I would just like to pick your brains please BCF.
So how do you fix your tank bags to your bikes?
Mine has VERY strong magnets and I think it could stay on the bike all on its own.
I think this is definately the case as the tank bag is behind the fairing.
I`m convinced that if you turned the bike upside down, the tank bag would stay where it is
What do you lot do?, I seek your wisdom ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Thank you people
I`ve used my tank bag a couple of times without any other fixings and it was fine, but I just wanted to hear it from others also.
As my Hyosung gt 250 wont do more than 103 mph (that`s the best I`ve had out of it) it looks like I`ll be ok not using additional straps ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Naked 600 Bandit fitted with my Hein Gericke tank bag with strong magnets (and nylon webbing straps - never been used).
Even with one of the magnets damaged/loosened and removed from the bag recently, it's always been fine, even on motorway speeds ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

Frank Thomas cargo magnetic tank bag
High speed cruising especially near Dresden up to 130 mph magnets only and it didnt budge at all..
I had however forgot about my side pannier bags that had waterproof covers on them..
I use the word had covers in the past tense, lesson learned I guess.

Regarding a strap round the headstock. I'm of the oppinion that if it's going to come off, I'd rather it came right off rather than flapping around on the end of a strap attached round the steering on the bike and right in front of my face. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. magnets and a strap round the frame at the front if I can be bothered, only used it a couple of times when going long distance, confident in just magnets anyway ____________________ Ybr 125 > Bandit 650SA > GSXR 600 > Triumph Sprint St1050 > CB1300 > Z1000SX + FJ1200 (written off) > VFR750 >FJ1200 |

I can see a headstock strap and magnet combination would be potentially dodgy, but when also strapped down to either side of the frame its going to be freak occurrence for it to come loose. The frame straps are non-obtrusive, i think i still have them on the bike even though i wear the strap over the shoulder around town. ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |
