When you're reading a book or watching something on your phone during a lunch break, why do people not have the common sense to see that you are doing so? The amount of people at work who sit next to me at lunch, speak to me even though they've seen headphones and start a Convo before I've even take them out?

I wouldn't interrupt someone reading a book unless it was important, I don't get it.

The other thing is when I'm eating, burping internationally in my direction or yawning without covering your mouth is fucking horrible, and like above, people don't seem to anything wrong with this.


I try to sit alone at lunch as much as possible. Nothing worse than having someone who's loud, leaning on me whilst eating all whilst talking utter nonsense and the getting offended when told not to do so. It makes me look like an uptight cunt as everyone just excepts it.

I agree. I don't like most people talking to me. I've recently found the best thing to do, is eat in one of the meeting rooms or prayer room!
If someone asks if they can sit with me, I say, yes. But warm them not to talk to me!

Of course, this all depends on who it is!!

On lunch break now, found a table alone whilst everyone was also seated:eating somewhere else.......then they choose to go out of ther way to come over and sit next to me????

I do not understand. I'm not an entertaining type of person, I'm quiet and I sit with headphones in.

I shouldn't get so worked up over something so trivial but it doesn't make any sense. I'm sitting here now and no words have even spoken since they made the move from across the room.

I have a slightly similar problem. Parking.

Drive into a car park, I usually avoid the stramash closest to the stairs, store entrance or whatever the *focus* of the car park is, and stick the car further away in a bit of the car park with loads of empty spaces, on its own. Then I return to the car to find that despite acres of empty spaces, someone has stuck a car in at least one of the spaces directly adjascent to mine, sometimes one on each side.

What's up with that? </Seinfeld>

My car is a recluse, a loner who doesn't want to associate with other cars, but they still stick themselves next to her when she's parked up.

Not everyone who dislikes their co-workers has a medical condition.

I admit that I do chat to my lot on breaks these days, but at a lot of places I just wanted a bit of peace from them on my breaks. In summer this is easy, as you just go for a walk. In winter, you have to find somewhere to go where you can get away from people for a bit.

I usually have lunch alone in my car (often en-route to the next client's house). So when I'm at the centre with colleagues to chat to, I will happily natter to them during the course of lunch.

That said, I don't speak in the mornings (when I'm getting ready for work) so if someone in the house comes down they will invariably get ignored completely.

It annoys me too, used to happen a lot at my old work work, I'd go into the crew room and sit down with my lunch and my book, and most people would respect that you're doing something and not distract you.

I didn't mind a quick "hi, how ya doing?" rhetorical question acknowledgement, but when someone keeps talking, annoying as hell.

Worse was when I was taking a quick nap... if you work 5am-5pm, sometimes even earlier (had to do 3.30am-3.30pm once) you need a bit of shut eye to get through the afternoon. Quite blatantly sleeping, or trying to, and someone sits next to you and tries to strike up a conversation... bloody annoying.

my girlfriend does my "favourite" one though. she'll be on the phone to me. we live 200 miles apart, so phonecalls are a lot of our relationship. and when any prick talks to her, she'll not even say "hang on a minute, some wanker is talking to me", she'll just have a full conversation with them.

a) theyre rude as fuck for walking in and starting a conversation with someone who's blatently on the phone.

and b) she's a cock for joining in.

I went to a leaving do on Sat night. I was the only one that knew no one (well aside my partner and a couple of his male friends).

Only ONE of the girls said hello . the others . nothing.. No - Hi, and only said goodby because I made the effort.

However bad I am feeling.... I'll always make others feel comfortable.
