Oil peeing out and no transmission!

so, rather than riding home from work today, i set off, 100 yards through the car park, go to set off out the gate, release the clutch and nothing, engine revs, no pick up, i check i'm in gear and i am, so i roll back into the car park check to see the clutch cable is working and notice oil pouring out the of the bottom end of the engine!!!

Its ended up on the back of a recovery wagon to get home and I'm wondering what to do next. the bike has just cost me for a service 2 weeks ago and i cant really afford another big bill just yet.

Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with it?
the engine is running fine with no weird noises, there is just no movement when i release the clutch.

Stripped drain plug thread and drain plug fell out?

no idea why its leaking oil, but if its leaking oil badly, i would recommend against running the engine for long until you fix the leak and top it up.

dont want to do more damage due to oil starvation

I think i foubd the problem after googling a bit.
Sprocket nut had fallen off!
Sprocket was sitting on the threads, spinning, the countershaft spacer had become dislodged and the seal was broken.
Sounds like its not too hard a job but its gone into the workshop just to be on the safe side.

who serviced the bike and any comment on sprocket nut|??

it was serviced less that 2 weeks before the nut fell off, i did wonder if they would have checked it during the service.
I changed the chain on it about 3 months ago and hadnt had the sprocket cover off since, nearly did the other week but thought, 'its just been serviced so should be fine'.
wish i had taken a look now!!

The locking washer was still bent over at 90 degrees, so it looks like it wasnt fitted properly to me, something that would have shown up before now if it was from me doing the chain and sprockets??

No, they would have no reason to check that nut as a service item. Likelyhood is that it's just rattled loose. Re-fit it and torque it up with some blue loctite.
