You may want to try reading the V5, it's that sheet of A4 from DVLA with your vehicle details on Rolling Eyes

Come on, chaps, it's a (semi) serious bike related question.

Just fill in the new colour on the V5C and send it off. It's a £0 change, no hoop jumping required.

Make sure you take a copy of it in case it comes back as a pink Lambretta though.

Well on a serious note then,
I wouldn't worry about it. Your V5 probably says black which as far as DVLA are concerned is probably close enough.
My Zed says Blue, but it's still in OEM colours and is Blue ,Green and Grey.
So may be best leaving DVLA alone, as far as insurance is concerned you may feel obliged to declare that you've modified it, but personally I'd avoid that minefield, if anyone asks it was that colour when you bought it (helps if it doesn't look like it was painted with a brick mind).

Our Fazer is listed as red, it's been white with graphics of Penelope Pitstop on it for 3 years now. 3 MOT's gone through.
Never been pulled. I wouldn't even bother.

Funnily enough, I've just sent my log book to the DVLA for a colour change.

I painted my Jawa 350 green when it was originally black.

I filled in details of the colour change and sent off the V5.

A new one came back with the colour listed as black.

Maybe they're still stuck in the 1920's, Wasn't it Henry Ford who said you can have any colour you want, as long as it's black! Laughing
