Hi all,

I am looking to buy a 125 learner bike and was wondering if I should be worried about how many owners would be deemed too many owners ?

I have seen one bike that has had 3 owners in under 3 years (making me the 4th) and another with 2 owners in just over a year (making me the third).

Is this too many or just the nature of 125 learner bikes ?

Interested in people's opinions.

As long as it is mechanically sound it should be OK.
But it depends who the learners were. Some a kak handed some love their bike.

Ours had 3 before but is still showroom mint. MINT.

I would expect a lot of owners on a learner legal 125 with the forethought of it being used to pass the tests and then sold immediately afterwards. Smile

That's the nature of a learner bike, buy it keep it for a year and do your test then upgrade.

Buy with your eyes.

Thumbs Up

2, 3, 4 owners... that's not a lot in my opinion.

Learners are going to buy 125cc's, use them a little then sell them on. The price you pay should reflect the current condition.

Thanks. That is what I was thinking but wasn't sure if it would people off or affect the resale price

1 owner per year sounds about right for a 125. Ask yourself if you'll be keeping it for longer than a year or not? Laughing
If anything too few owners can be a bad thing. If it's an old bike and it's not changed hands in a long time it's probably been stored unused somewhere which usually causes bikes to rot.

IMO, the more owners on a vehicle, is sometimes the better.

When somebody first buys a car or bike, they are more enthusiastic to fix anything. after 2, 3, 4 years whatever. Things just get bodged, fixed cheap etc. Or at least they have with my cars in the past.

Thanks guys. I am not disputing the condition as I would check that out independently.

I was wondering if lots of owners, devalues the bike compared to other bikes of the same age/mileage/condition but with half the number of owners ?

Would you expect to pay less if it had more owners compared to a bike with fewer owners ?

It's not just 125s, I'm the 8th? 9th? owner of my GPz305. It's the nature of a "just passing through" bike.

A handful of owners isn't that bad. My car had 13 owners, from its import in 2004 Laughing
