Starting with the simple stuff. The back brake pedal and front brake lever will each have a switch associated with it that operates the brake light. It'll probably be the back brake switch that needs a bit of adjustment to ensure that it's off until the pedal is pushed and the brake engaged.

Failing that, you'll need to test the switches to make sure that they're operating correctly. You'll need a multimeter to do this.

The charging problem is most likely to be a duff battery. Again, you'll need a multimeter to test. You need to know what the voltage at the battery terminals is with the ignition off and with the bike running at around 5000 rpm.

hi dude,

the back light being on all the time ( when bike turned on ) will eventuallty flatten the battery. probably a stuck on switch either on handle bar brake or foot pedal ( pics please ).

sort the brake light first or remove bulb for next test......

when charged bat and fitted to bike, start up and allow to idle, swirtch on head lights and gently rev eng ( NOT FLAT OUT, say 2/3 revs ), does the headlight seem to grow brighter??

if yes then chargeing system probably ok, if not then chargeing system problem ( corroded wire or bad connection/ ).

how long you had this bike and any warranty??

hi lads thanks for this its really appreciated, the moped is a wee project it was bought smashed and in pieces (something to fix while the woman's pregnant) but it just seems that for every new part and every new thing im told is wrong something else breaks or doesn't work. The amount of money that's been spent due to wrong information is crazy. There's a new cdi a new coil new battery new stator new panels one new switch and its still dies when the batterys charged. The bike ticks over and then when it starts it seems like the batterys drains straight away.

I'll try what you have said about the back light and let you know what happens. Cheers for this guys. Noel
