Ok i got pulled in purley today, in my head i was like i know im clean mot done insurance is in the bag be polite and enjoy the experience.

But sad to say i was totally wrong. They check my bike 'no insurance/ no mot/ bikes wrong colour' they check me ' no licence'. At this point it was 15mins into the so called check.

I was fuming as i was insured with mce, i have a cbt provisional as i done my theory and booked my mod 1 and mod 2. My bike a fucking 2010 r125 so obviously you don't need to MOT within the first 3 years.

At this point the police officer thought he scored, all smiling giving me the lip. So hes all excited jumps the gun and doesn't even bother calling mce directly. Gets his mates in blue to start the process of impounding.

They take my bike im fuming kicking off as i was suppose to be doing my mod1/2 on my r125 later on this week.
Now they start strapping down my bike after i fill in a few forms.

Whilst they were strapping i asked them to call mce directly the guy said sorry he couldn't, so then i decide to do it mysekf. After finally getting hold of someone. I then passed the phone to the nob of a police officer who then finds out my bike is fkin insured.... OOOO no apology here just 'your lucky' they then call who ever had my bike at this point to turn around they only set off 2-3 minutes before i called mce.

And what about licence? At this point they deduced you had insurance but still had you riding with no licence (in their eyes) and they still let you ride off?

Something dont add up here somewhere. Hmm.

Make a complaint, if anything it will make the cunts life that little bit more awkward.

When i binned my bike 2-3 months ago the same thing happened. They found out that they got one of the letters wrong, and the corrected it. I was lucky then as i had my documents with me.
I wanted to tell the police officer the following above, but i just thought i might get myself in deep shit.

I will be... But they way they were acting was like if they wanted me to withing out a licence or insurance. The community police officer was one of the worst ones out of the bunch as he pretty much lacked common sense.

If you do it properly, at the very least he will be questioned by his superiors, the police are pretty anal about this kinda thing.

Nothing will probably come out of it, but it will probably screw his day up, which you can enjoy.

Hmmm, seems that you were very lucky that such a twatish copper didn't spot your missing tax disc.

It depends on what variety of chimp answers the phone at the insurers. I had my car seized in 2007 for 'having no insurance' The rozzer phoned my insurance company and the chimp who answered the phone told him I had no insurance policy.

I had taken out a policy and paid for it in full a month or so previously. The insurance company put the wrong reg plate in to MID and had the wrong reg plate 'on their system'.

Then they tried to claim it was my fault as I had given them the wrong reg number when I took out the policy. Then I had given them the wrong reg number when I checked the cert of insurance and emailed them twice to tell them it was wrong. Then I had given them the wrong reg number when I had faxed them proof of my NCD with a handwritten note on it with my reg number and policy number on it. Rolling Eyes

^^^ This^^^ Proper complaint to the police force in question. If they don't resolve your complaint to your satisfaction off you go to the IPCC. Complain to your insurer and if they fob you off take it to the Financial Ombudsman. Thumbs Up

Tax but no insurance.

Ring your insurers and state you are still not on the MID.

This is why you were pulled.

Two things:

1) The copper did nothing wrong.
2) The copper was a nob-end.

We can be stopped for any reason, or no reason.

If Plod has reasonable belief that an offence is being committed (and the MID now gives him that) wants to then he can require us to produce our license and a certificate of insurance on the spot.

Almost nobody carries those, but that's the law, and cutting us a break is at their discretion. Producing them later halts a prosecution, but not a seizure.

If they form a "reasonable belief" that you're either unlicensed (why that then?) or uninsured, then your vehicle is getting seized. It is not their responsibility to do any checking, although most non nob-ends will do it, because it looks like less hassle for them.

So. Either check that you're on the MID, or carry your certificate and be adamant that the moment that you present it, they have no grounds for that reasonable belief. Either way, it's your responsibility, and nobody else's.

To be honest, you're coming across as a bit of a scally pedboi drama llama. That's not the way to challenge their reasonable belief.
