My dilemma is where to take my Bike to be repaired, here's my options...

2008 Honda C B R 125 R W

I take her to C J Balls where they deal especially with Honda's. But here it will be considerably more expensive.

Or, I order and buy the parts it needs myself, and help my Mum's workmate fix it because he apparently knows how.

Anyway writing that out I can see it's probably an obvious answer, I'll have a chat with my Mum's workmate see what he says and such.

This way I'm not spending a small fortune at C J's, I just want it back and working Asap to practice and do my module's this year! Time is running out!

Here's how the damage stands: Need's a full fairing kit/ or just left side, new left hand indicator, left hand wing mirror, left hand & bracket, headlamp fairing...

Input on how to going about getting it repaired, or if you even think it's worth it? And how to go about my module's now seeing as I currently don't have a Bike - do I book and just rent? Thanks

You don't need fairings to make it run so do everything else first. Stuff like indicators, mirrors should be easily done. Grab a Haynes manual and get to it

If you can operate an Allen key, you can do all that stuff yourself.

perfect time to learn - you can get a service manual for download for free on this site - if you can type and dress yourself - you should work through 90% of problems

Seems like an easy job. If it was me i would leave the fairings off and get a headlight and streetfighter it. Youl want it done ASAP if you want to book your tests and i assume youl sell it after?

Thank you for your replies all!

I'm going to C J Balls Wednesday morning to get/ order the indicator and wing mirror. Where on the site is the free service manual please, would be great? And yes I'm hoping to get this done Asap to get my tests done. Also yes I'm planning on selling it after my tests.

If your curious about how it was damaged I've wrote another post about my crash I had on it.

Call me crazy but I looked at some pictures of the naked look of a C B R and I kinda like it! Thanks again!

I'm not sure why we'd care who "C J Balls" are, or why you're licking them. Honda parts, or generic replacements, can be got from just about anywhere. Full fairing kits can be bought direct from China, panels come up on eBay regularly, you just need someone who's dropped their bike on the right hand side. Wink

In the short term, just gaffa-tape and go. Don't fuss over it, take advantage of the offer to get it road-worthy (with generic eBay parts), and get through your tests while you still can.

Long term, it's a 4 year old 125, don't invest in it. Set up an eBay search for a panel and see if you get lucky. If not, strip and eBay it as "very rare naked CBR125". Whistle

Usually it's cheaper to order the bits online rather than go through a brick & mortar repair garage... he's going to want a profit on selling you the parts.

You said you were going "Wednesday morning" which I assume is today so this might be a bit too late... Confused

My bike has needed about £180 worth of parts in the last 6 months. It cost me £180. I think that's quite a lot actually. But if I had taken the bike to the garage to get everything done I'd probably have paid £600 - £800 in labour... so you HAVE to get stuck in and try and sort things out yourself, unless you have deep pockets.

The Workshop forum on here is very helpful.

CJ's used to be the definitive Honda 5 star dealer back in the day! Do what you can yourself, take it there when you get stuck
