Hi

MZ ended up in a garage.... new clutch plates - 5 old ones, some were broke some were cracked - replaced with 6 new ones that came in a pack, no explination why there was only 5 before.
Kickstart mechanism teeth part completely shagged + mating cog, so all replaced.

Ride home was about 45 mins, cut out 2 mins round the corner. Cant remember exactly what i did to get it started again but its a fuel blockage - unplug the fuel line and nothing drips out.

Kicked it up this morning at 5am ish and it fired up no problems but cut out again round the corner! Again, no petrol coming out of the fuel line. I assumed it was a build up of crap in the tank and unscrew the petrol cap - fuel line thats still disconnected starts pissing petrol!! Fired up and got to work.

I assume there is an air filter somewhere for the fuel tank that is blocked. Would that sound about right?!

Should be a breather somewhere, either in the cap or around the tank somewhere. make sure its clear.

Quick question(s)
Do you use pre-mix, as in get a can of petrol, put right mix of oil in that and then fill bike tank?

Or are you trusting the oil pump doesn't fail?

Otherwise I think these are good bikes providing they can be maintained. Would have had one myself when I started if I hadn't been offered a CG at a bargain price.

So far I'm using the reservoir and the pump seems to be ok, you can see the level dropping. On the inside of the fuel cap is a little tub which you can measure and add oil with so should be ok I'd the pumps starts to fail

There is a pinhole in the middle of the filler cap to allow air to get back into the tank as fuel runs out.

Stick a straightened paperclip in the hole, wiggle it about then blow down it. If air comes out the other side, you have successfully fixed the problem.

Most MZ servicing goes something along these lines.

Or putting threadlock on the gearchange pinch bolt after searching the hedge for the damn thing the third time its slacked off and the lever disappeared.
