6.5kg jug = £6

figured i'd point this out as i dont know how long they've been doing it.

but might be worth it for those who get iced up driveways/paths.

also, if you have elderly family members who are a little unsteady on their feet this could help them stave off that hip replacement for another year.

They are unlikely to be sold at national diy stores as it would reduce the profitability of these stupidly small 6kg bags

our local paving supplier loaded up a lorry and sat outside B&Q selling his 20kg salt bags for £6 in the middle of the icy period last year (didnt even profiteer from it!!)when B&Q were sold out

You can use any salt to defrost - but it works only till -10 or even less.

So get to tesco and buy any cheapest salt you can find

As Rock salt will be less refined and will have an immediate benefit of non slip of the larger crystals & will work out less expensive

To echo sentiments, screw that Travis Perkins sell larger quantities for less, have some left over from last year, bought something like 4 bags which came to £12 IIRC

so residents steal this for their private properties leaving less for where its actually needed, on the roads!

although, i used to see this frequently but they're slowly dissapearing.

probably because of people destroying them, burning them and stealing from them.

More likely down to the chance of someone using it and then an accident ensuing and a big claim for compo Rolling Eyes

i love this miss conception that because you pay council tax you own stuff.

wrong, you pay the council, the council then owns that money, and buys stuff making it the property of the council.

you take from the council, it is stealing, the more salt you steal, the less is on the roads, the more likely some poor sod is going to hit ice and crash and possibly kill some little child playing in the snow on christmas day just after opening their presents.

hope the parents in your area keep the receipts....

But to be fair, if you spent as much time writing CV's and filling applications as you do DILLIGAFAGGING on BCF you would not only be in employment, you'd probably be middle management by now Thumbs Up

I don't think anyone has a problem with you being unemployed - I certainly don't.

But when you preach to others how they "steal" from the council you need to have a long hard look at yourself and think about what you put into the pot to be in a position to say these things.

£174 a month I pay so if I want to take rock salt I will take some, I don't use anything else (really) that MY money pays for.
I don't use the library
I don't use the schools
I don't use the waste collection services, 4 bags telling me how I chuck stuff out? Or one bag that goes in the Biffa bin in work I pay for
And many other amenities I pay for but don't use, why can't I use something I am paying for, for my gain?
