Vermin Killing

As it seems to be a shooting/animal kinda forum at the moment.

Anyone shoot vermin? And by that i mean, does anyone go to farms (or have their own) and a rifle and shoot rats and rabbits and pigeons?

Yes, I live on a farm and have a number of permissions for pest control. Under the general license I shoot with either Air Rifle, Shotgun. Or I ferret or trap; Fox, magpies, squirrels, rats.

All quarry gets fed to the ferrets except carnivores like the fox, I do however pickle and sell their tails to people who've got cats they've taken in and were once feral. these cats look at regular cat toys, look at you then give you that look which means ''take this away from me or i'll kill you while you sleep''. they all go bat shite mental for a bunny tail or fox tail on a piece of string.

I shoot rats, pigeons, rabbits, corvids and squirrels on a farm I have permission on. I also trap rats, rabbits, corvids and mink.

I do rats, rabbits and pigeons on a few farms, using a BSA Ultra multi and a bolt action 410. Good evenings out, keeps me from spending my money in the pub and get a few meals out of it

Used to in woodland/farmland leased by my syndicate, used to love spending the evening up there with the dog and gun, have a walk around, have a shot for the pot.

Even if I didn't get any kills, the walk was nice - in the middle of nowhere, undisturbed.

a few years ago i participated in a massacre of squirrels,they'd started climbing in the roof insulation at my freinds cottage...so they had to die.
i must have done about 15 and wounded more,felt like Adolf eichman for a few days.shame they were'nt eatable,would have felt much better.

I shoot rats, squirrels and wood pigeons in my garden with an air rifle. Have been practicing recently with a catapult too to rid the world of tree rats.

I only really asked as i'm approaching eighteen and was thinking of getting a .22 Air rifle. The only real issue i can see is getting permission from land owners. Can't see them trusting a spotty eighteen year old with a rifle xD

Yes, I do a fair bit. Got permission on an 800 acre farm and another at a riding school/stables. Rabbits and rats mostly, thought I'll get a pigeon when I can as they're tasty.

I shoot rats/mice with a cheap Chinese airgun if I see any, otherwise I just shoot targets. Never bother with birds or any other kind of animals, they're more than welcome in the garden. I've no intention to eat anything I shoot. My mum puts out food for the fox and birds in winter
