On the photocard bit it has the =<25kw in the 'A' row. Should it show an expiry date?

also

On the paper counterpart it still has 'A' listed under provisional entitlement Confused

Is this normal?

Mine doesn't have one either. I'd imagine when two year's up you send it to DVLA right? (prays to the gods of BCF [namely Nobcat] for answer).
To be honest, I'm kind of curious myself now Thinking

The <=25kW bit doesn't have a date on it, no.

You don't need to send your licence in after the restricted period. The <=25kW bit stays on your licence 'forever', but the powers that be know that it only applies for 2 years.

I put 'forever' in quotes, because the <=25kW bit is automatically removed if you change your address, or get a new licence for any other reason once the 2 years are up.

Hope this helps..!

You can renew your licence after the 2 years have passed solely to obtain a new licence without the <=25kW restriction showing on it.

Use form D1, and tick box "to remove expired 25kW motorcycle restriction", see form here:

https://www.drivingbug.com/licenseform.jpg

Couldn't be bothered to find a better quality one, but scroll down and you'll see it.

No need to "lose" or have your licence "stolen" for you to be able to do this either.

'Moving house' is free, though.

Obviously you need to have two addresses to do that though! I alternated my licence address between my university one and my home one in order to remove the <=25kW bit.

Thanks for the replies. I will need to update the photo in a couple of years so will hopefully get the 25kw bit removed at the same time.

Any ideas regarding the paper counterpart still having 'A' listed under provisional entitlement?

It disappears once you do the 2 year trick, and 'A2' gets added to your 'Previous Entitlements' bit.

It is still there now because you technically still have an 'A' provisional licence on bigger bikes - you could still do Accelerated Access.
