And?

Don't need lights to ride/drive on the road in day time.

Next question?

It doesn't have a UK number plate so I'd guess it was foreign. It could have a daytime MOT if it was registered in the UK. There could be a brake light hidden under the back of the seat...

Judging by the colour of the licence plate and lack of lights...

Due to its age (The licence plate colour says its pre 1973~?) meaning it was probably made without indicators and the headlight has been taken off and given a DAYTIME MOT only?

A daytime MOT doesn't require indicators (hand signals are still in the Highway Code, aren't they?)

Is the plate foreign? If it's an old UK registration then it appears to be a few years out to qualify as pre-1973, as I think that would have been a -J or -K suffix.

Is it not compulsory to have a main beam always on for a motorcycle in the UK?

No, that's just the modern bike manufacturers thing.

...and it's a dipped beam if fitted that way.

The tyres look like cheap over sized pedal bike ones.

Uk plate, W reg was 1980, it should be reflective for that year.

Just about to say that! It's just a funky coloured plate!

Perfectly fine to use on the road that, all it needs is a daylight MOT as stated above.

What is it anyway, anyone know?

All you need is a horn and a reflector, safety wise.

More info on the mystery of the infamous "day light MOT" here:

My wr250 has no lights, indicators, brake light, mirrors and it passed the daylight MOT. I just have a 10 p reflector and a numberplate.

Hmm, I want an SR500. Give it to me! Preferably after it's been put back to standard. For some reason they seem to be worth a stupid amount - even projects go for £1k+ Confused.

The only thing obviously illegal about that bike is the plate, as it's a post-'73 bike. Although a moot point as it's daylighted, you didn't have to have indicators up until 1/8/86.

I'm surprised that it'd get through an MOT without a brake light!!
I'm sure that on my old '51 Bantam the reason that I had to modify its electrics was to fit a brake light, which was not actually fitted to that model when it was manufactured.
I suppose it all depends on where you take it for MOT, personally I'd be inclined to fit a headlight just to knock the retinas out of twats who can't be bothered to dip their main beam.

Is the tread on the front wheel going the wrong direction? Back wheel seems opposite to the front wheel?

or is that normal for this bike?
