Today I had a bit of a shunt, was reversed into at a set of traffic lights, insurance sorted, bike inspected, no problems.

However, the first thing that hit was my meat and two veg as I slid into the metal fuel tank, was nearly sick, and had to kneel at the side of the road for quite sometime before I could ride on..

Other than sticking a bit of foam onto the tank, is there a better way to protect myself, this time it was at about 10mph, but I dread to think what damage could be done at 30+ Eh?

Why not use a ball hammer to make two suitably sized indents in your tank for your pods to nestle into gently?

You aren't a very luck fellow, are you? Shocked
Fortune surely cant SO disfavor you...
I think given all that's happened to you in recent months, a little life reflection, & attitude adjustment may be in order, got to be something you are doing to be SO unlucky... as my old gran used to say, we make SO much of our own luck in life, & lady luck just adds interest.

Not quite sure what you're saying Mike, was sat a the lights, followed 2 second rule with car and front, tyres and tarmack.

Somehow went into reverse, and knocked the front wheel, just a knock mind, but the bike went backwards and I slid forward on the seat. If I'm honest he crawled back, but I still hit the tank, what could I have been doing?

Could have happened to anyone IMO

I guess you'd have to make sure it fit really well, otherwise could catch thes part of your anatomy you are aiming to protect and increase the damage of an impact.

Isn't this the main reason that they stopped fitting luggage racks onto fuel tanks - i.e. rather than just mashing of your gentleman's area, it would be outright ripped off.

The moral is, man up, it could be worse Wink

Why did you stop at the lights? You normally ride through them, regardless of colour, don't you Wink

Yes, it COULD... but for 'some' reason, it happened to you.....

Now, unlucky 'events'....

How many attempts at Mods & convinced the examiner doesn't like the cut of your jib?

3 points for what? & how many other run in's with the law, noted in variouse posts...

And now testicular encounter with petrol tank..... have to empathise with this one, it ent nice..... and does seem a 'freak' but still....

Point was you dont seem to be having much luck...

Grannies wisdom; we make a lot of our own luck, and the fates seem to amplify what we make.

Whether your poor luck is hinting at a flaw in your approach to riding, or a pessimistic outlook on life, or a lack of enthusiasm or motivation.....

SO MANY 'bad-things' happening to one person suggests more than just freak occurrences!

MAYBE worth a little thinking about... are you surrounded by negativity? Are you riding on the ragged edge? Are you giving off bad 'I'm a Rebel' vibes? That kind of thing!

Should you be unfortunate enough to repeat the experience, but at a higher speed then may I recommend that after the impact has occured that you don't rub them, but count them! Razz

Unlucky fella Sad
