Hi guys,

Got the chance to get my hands on one of these at a bargain price, took it for a spin today lovely bike, got a couple of questions;

1. There is a lot of travels on front and rear brakes before the pads bite in, don't get me wrong they work but I'm not a fan of lots of travel, owner claims its something he's adjusted to suit what he likes, is this true, can it be adjusted back? Or a load of balls??

2. Recall work: what where the recalls triumph did to this bike? I have the VIN number to check with a dealer tomorrow but it would be good if I had a heads up on what to expect?!

There was a recall on the T509 for cracking frames, but Triumph replaced all the frames IIRC so it won't be an issue. They changed the design of the exhaust collector on the 955i (the next year model) because it can touch down under hard cornering.

Apart from that they are great bikes.

Triumph brakes all seem to need regular bleeding, and I don't think anyone has really got to the bottom of why.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Brake lever travel - if it's anything wrong with the bike it'll just need the brakes bleeding, piss-easy job.

If he's adjusted it like that then it should be reversible - even if he'd somehow permanently altered them there'd be obvious signs of bodginess if he'd done it with a hacksaw and stick welder
