Right you lot, heres your chance to make me happy or nervous.

Not passed the test yet and as some of you know I currently ride a T plate CG125.

I've just got back from Ryders Motorcycles Near Peterborough (Seem like nice people) having purchased a 1988 Honda VFR400 (NC24) with approx 22,000 miles.
Paid £1100 quid including restriction kit, reckon on £700 on my CG

Good buy?
or
Bad Buy?

Good points - Singlesided swing arm, nutty fun. Gear driven cams? (i think)

Bad points - As comfortable as a day in a turkish prison, plug changes are a pita and (apparently) pricy...

£700 is not a bad ammount for the cg, 1100 is suspiciously cheep for the vfr (considering its a dealership)

Its going to seem like being fired out of a cannon compared to the cg, so try to take it easy Razz

I'd say good buy, but depends on what your going to be useing it for (like journeys of 50 miles+ will be hard work, no less comfy than the cg though imo)

time will tell on these bikes, you either get a good one or a nail

1100 is about as much as i would want to pay for one, looks pretty tidy in the pic

hope it serves you well Thumbs Up

I had one as my first bike years ago

uncomfortable as fuck around town

I stuck it into the side of a Nissan Micra (I headbutted the car, my pillion went over the roof)

Bad buy. Overpriced, but about right for buying from a dealership.

As long as it's not a dog, you should be ok. Just treat it nice. That will help.

Personally I would have saved up and got an nc30, but fair doos. Thumbs Up

Enjoy Mr. Green

Nice bike, i was going to buy one exactly the same about a month ago which was in a lot worser condition and was priced at £900. Went for a zzr600 instead as after having a sit on the VFR it put me off as i found it was very uncomfortable and the zzr can be ridden all day long, also the insurance is cheaper for my zzr and it's a fair bit quicker.

Looks a very good example and must feel very nippy compared to the CG even restricted, are you going to get it derestricted or wait until the licence restriction wears of and you can do it legally.

Have fun Thumbs Up .

the plan is to wait until two years are upbefore de-restricting or getting even bigger bike.

several of you have noted comfort as a down side, well I just have to be difficult.
I chose it because I find it so comfortable with my bad lower back and all, it just seems to fit.

Cheers

there bigger in physcal size and more confotable that the NC30 on the back and rists due to a more up-right postion. your soon have those restictors out. (also the bike might still have a restriction in the speedo limting it to 111mph), in theroy sticking a mortax mechincal speedo convetor on would make the restrictor redanant
