Basically me and the girlfriend were sold Orange Broadand over the phone as we are good customers, girlfriend has her phone and her daughters and i have a account them also. All paying £30 a month on our phones. So we got offered a broadband deal as we havent got it at the moment. So went through all the shit and the price seemed fair 10 pound a month. Now girlfriend asked twice about installation fee as her BT line is not actve, i also asked as the direct debit would come out of my account. And was told again no there isnt a istallation fee and the engineer will call 26th November.
.
Today we are presented with a leter saying thanks for taking out broadband with us and the engineer will visit blah blah andd the fee is £60.

Now we we asked three times about a fee an tfey said no there isnt one.

Now im not paying that as we have been blatantly lied to on the phone. Will it be a straightforward stick your broadband up your arse you ying fuckers?

Virgin were offering £20 to install fibre optic.

I think that as you've only being going out with her a month you shouldn't really be getting financially involved.

Can't be arsed with another long thread about how another girlfriend has taken the piss out of you.

Afaik most contracts like these have a cooling off period, you should be able to cancel the contract if you're within that period. You need an active line and will have to pay line rental in addition to any monthly BB charge. There are deals out there for all in one line rental, call package and BB. Expect a minimum contract time of 12-18 months.

Personally I wouldn't touch Talk Talk or BT for those all in one deals. Just recently BT called and tried to flog me Infinity package. "OK, what's your monthly GB allowance on option 1?" "40GB sir" . "Err, no thanks."

I keep my line rental separate from the BB, ripped off for line rental bv BT but 02 BB is good (thus far).

I have no idea what is going on here.

Either, you are back with the freeloading slack pussy, in which case pay the £60 connection fee as that is the least amount of screwing you'll be taking.

Or, you've already moved in with someone new, in which case. Don't come here asking for advice you retard.

Should have gone Virgin, fibre > adsl.

Confirmed speeds and no specific issues with contention.
vs
Wildly varying speeds and using ghetto copper.

If my records are up to date, he's moved in with Nurse McNaughty and her trembling-on-the-edge-of-legal daughter. Thumbs Up

No she got binned thankfully. Haven't moved in with this girl. Just spend a lot of time there. She doesn't have a broadband connection so we got one. It's a £10 a month. Hardly a massive financial attachment. Will wait for at least another 5 month's before I even think about being totally committed to her.

About £10 a month more than I used to spend on mine Laughing

Excluding petrol monies... but I enjoyed the ride so I'm not counting that.

Yeah I enjoy the ride to. She's a right goer and unlike my ex runs her own house and doesn't shy away from hard work.

I take it you mean aluminium. I've just had fibre installed and the bloke says the wires stopped being copper some time ago, they use ali now (and it's worse than copper).

We're 50ft from the fibre box so I'm now getting more upload (2.25MB) than I used to get download (1.7MB).

10MB DL, 2.25MB upload, suh-weet! Thumbs Up

If it was sold to you over the phone, check the distance selling regs.

They have to provide you a cooling off period and if it was miss sold then that strengthens your case

As to the OP - tell them to do one. I've recently started recording all telephone conversations with organisations, the latest run in was with Vodafone who were refusing to honour the terms their retentions team offered me to get me to sign up again. Telephone sales people are only interested in getting a commission, don't expect the deal offered to materialise when it comes time to pay Mad

I just do not rate ADSL. I've seen wildly varying speeds. One example was a friend subscribed to "up to 24mb"

All goo around 20 days of the month.

The rest he used to get a max of around 3mb. He just did a speedtest and has 1.1mb down and 4mb upload Laughing

As far as ghetto is concerned...

If it was sold over the phone, the call has to be recorded, by law, as your are essentially signing a contract verbally and they need a record of it.
However if they are actually recording it is a different matter.

Guess it's more of a
" you haven't recorded me saying I want broadband, remove this all at once and give me my money back "

So they record it to cover their own asses.

It's something used when selling financial products over the phone, so I was told by a previous boss, however as speculated above, I've never actually seen the legislation around it.
