My most basic. Helmet and gloves are the minimum. Standard going to the shops or to a mate's on the weekend

One piece leathers, gloves, helmet and MX boots are my minimum. I like my skin. Wink

Always Helmet, Jacket, Gloves, Boots.

Summer I usually just wear jeans on the bike, sometimes kevlar but usually not as only got one pair of kevlar jeans lol.
Winter I pretty much wear my proper leather trousers, as the roads get a mite slippy so more chance of an off.

Sure I could come off in the summer too, but I'll take my chances as roasting in leather might well spoil my concentration Very Happy IMO anyway.

Once in a blue moon I have been known to hop on the bike with just helmet and gloves when nipping to local shop in summer, but not often!

Helmet and Gloves if the weather permits me to leave the rest of the gear at home.

This plus an infinity of googolplexes.

Every time I ride past a "ped boi" on his "bee in a biscuit tin", I wince at the fact that most of them are wearing joggers, a hoodie, trainers and a lid.

Plus, I wonder if the council would like half the road back if it's embedded, permanently, in my body. Although, I pay my road tax, so it's only fair that I get my cut.

In the height of summer, I often went out in no protective gear other than the helmet.

In the winter, you might well catch me in oversize leathers over my kevlar clothing.

What gear I wear seems to depend almost entirely on the temperature Very Happy

Winter:

Boots, Jeans, bike tights from Lidl, t-shirt, microfleece top, either leather or MA1 jacket, leather cut-off, gloves, piss pot with necktube and mask.

Summer:

Boots, Jeans, T-shirt, leather cut-off, gloves, pisspot with shades, and microfleece jumper tied round waist in case temp drops.

Helmet and gloves. And sunblock.

I will happily motorcycle in a t-shirt if I feel like it. Don't want to mess my hands up though. A day of heatwave scootering leading to extreme sunburn taught me the value of Factor 30 though. Embarassed

Minimum gear for me is lid, mx gloves, leather jacket, kevlar jeans and boots. I have ridden up and down my road in jeans and a tshirt before but felt too exposed

You can burn very fast on a bike with our sun. Anything more than 30 min I wear a jacket. And weekdays with the rush hour a jacket. I only fully suit up riding off road.

Pants only off road, which is the only time I wear mx boots. I have 1 set of city boots but only wear them on highway trips

Far too hot here for leathers and still enjoy biking. Expensive textiles work, but in town at slow speeds in 30+ C. No thanks. Take my chances rather than chance heat stroke

My minimum ever has been nothing.

Was in a bad mood. Had broken up with the girlfriend that afternoon after a bad night the night before and really couldn't be arsed. Went out in casual shoes, jeans and a stylish leather jacket, not a biking one. No helmet, no gloves, was brilliant fun apart from watering eyes. Smile

My usual minimum, helmet and gloves. My usual minimum in winter, helmet and gloves and something warm over my arms/body.

Minimum gear depends on degree of risk.

On a hot summer's day in London, I'll do helmet, gloves, jeans and boots - but still t-shirt. I have crashed like this at ~20mph, very minor road rash.

Touring: full textile suit, armoured boots.

Weekend riding, pushing it a bit on country roads: 2-piece leather suit, back protector, race gloves, race boots.

If the weather got much hotter than the UK, I might consider 3/4 or half-helmets and going without gloves, but only at urban speeds, and I'd take fewer risks too.

We have this thread once a year.

Usual process is like this.

I don't wear all my gear, I do, you should too, stop killing kittens, hey we have free speech, people can do what they want, agree to disagree.

I would have done if I had thought about it... I'd have looked been riding like Cool instead of Shocked

Probably won't be a next time in the foreseeable future! Far too many plod around here and other motorists take it upon themselves to honk their horn at me to tell me that I'm not wearing a helmet. Very distracting!

Well then tell them you are crying because someone stole your favourite lid when you popped into the shop. And don't they crime to solve instead of harrassing a biker who has just been robbed?
