RGP (hard) contact lenses...

Anyone wear them or have worn them in the past and can care to share experiences with them, e.g. comfort, vision etc.
I wore them when i was about 14-16 and remember them being pretty uncomfortable to be honest, but my optician didnt spend much time or effort getting ones which fit well, so im wondering if they are more comfortable these days.

I wear continuous ones, they aren't hard but stay in all month.

They are fairly horrible, wake up with an eye full of sleep, they make you feel tired.

Tempted to consider lasik

I've been wearing them daily since 1988. I don't think I could cope with soft lenses, all that jelly like floppy nastiness!

The longest I've worn mine for is probably last month from 2am through to 1am (early flight then on holiday). I took them out and cleaned them half way through, so they were out for about a minute.

My normal wear is probably from 7:30am to 8:30pm, during the week.

I only tend to get problems in cars when people have the heating on full and the blower on, my eyes get quite dry and sore then.

I'm strongly considering laser surgery these days; got a mate who works for one of the big providers, has had the procedure himself and it seems relatively risk free. Regarding the price, I pay about £15 p/m for soft lenses (astigmatism) and preliminary enquiries seem to say I could pay about £20 p/m over four years for laser treatment and (hopefully) not have to worry about my eyes again.
