My Mod 1 was cancelled and the new date is 3rd Dec. I'm more pissed off about this now than I was on wednesday when it was cancelled. i've got to thinking that even if I pass Mod1 next month I could be waiting till Jan to do Mod2. I have little confidence I will pass Mod2 first time so a good chance I could end up doing another Mod2 after Jan19th with the only gain for spending the money on tests being not having to display L plates. If Mod1 gets cancelled again I think I will definatly be into post Jan 19th to pass Mod 2. If the weather screws Mod1 should I just ask for my money back and leave it till next summer and save my pennies and do DAS ?

Can you not do Mod 1 anywhere else? Even if you have to ride or go miles away? If I was in your position I would be trying to get on to restricted licence asap before the new rules come in.

Something sticks in my mind that the DSA don't start doing tests till the 11th of Jan or something silly, I had it with my driving test, where I tried to book before December, ended up doing it in Jan

On your cancellation email did they give you a link for changing your booking time?

Try following that, and keep trying looking for cancellation slots several times a day. I got much quicker and better slots that way (within a week or so).

You could also travel further as pits said if you get desperate.

All hope is not lost!

Cancellations are your BEST friend, failed my first go at module 2 on 24/10/12 and rebooked for earliest possible being 14/12/12, less than 2 weeks after found a cancellation for 28/11/12 and then the other day found one for 7/11/12, so this Wednesday. All at the SAME test centre

Remember, everytime someone fails their module 1 this usually frees up a module 2 slot (if the candidate already booked their module 2)

Keep looking

How do I check for cancelations?

If I do fuck up or whatever and have to go for a licence next summer it makes no difference to my plans for getting other bikes as I was just ging to keep my 125 for work anyway and not planning on getting a bigger weekender bike till i've paid off my WR in a couple of years. Losing the L plates is more of an ego thing really. Hence wondering if its worh the cost just for a 125 licence after J19th.

Nearest other test centre is in Dundee or perth fucking miles away its a big enough pain getting to my local centre for 8:30 am never mind having to go south where I would probably have to go down the night before and stay in a B+B.

Definitely don't give up....did you know you can book your mod2 NOW...for 4th december?....the day after your mod1....that means that if you pass mod1 then you could have a full licence EASY before xmas....even if you fail mod2 first off...I reckon there will still be enough time for 2 more tries by 19th jan.

Remember, cancellations are more likely with mod2s so youll easily get a few chances before the new rule changes.

Mod1 is the key to it all...you MUST practice LOTS...research youtube and do everything in your powers to give yourself the best chance of passing it FIRST time. Basically, if you fail the mod 1 on 3rd dec...its looking unlikely youll have enough time for the mod2 seeing as theres a 1 month waiting list where you are.

Best of luck with it...and get practicing.

Thanks Puma i'll think over booking Mod2 this weekend. If I did fail Mod1 though would I be out of pocket if I have to cancel a Mod2 booked for close after the Mod1?

You get a couple of days in which you can cancel your test.

Cancellations show up on the website when you're booking your test. They're the ones which are like "tomorrow" when you select the earliest possible test.

Mod2 cancellations are easier to find because of people failing mod1 and having to cancel mod2.

Personally I passed my theory on the 6th of September last year and mod 2 on the 29th of September. This included 2 weeks procrastinating about booking my mod 2.

Keep on checking dsa site for cancellations, also try looking at other test centers. Also book your mod 2 now, whilst there are decent slots available. You could always cancel your mod 2 and get a refund if you FAIL AGAIN ( must be 3 working days apart ) .

I'm still aiming to get my A 2year restricted licence before the new directive.

And coming off my bike really didn't help. It should be repaired some time next week and I'm planning on booking my Module 1 when I get her back.

Good luck to you anyway man, and ye look for cancellations, or try find somewhere else that can do sooner?

When I did all my tests I rang round all the schools within a 2 hour drive from me and managed to do the lot from cbt to mod 2 pass in just over three weeks, there's hundreds and hundreds of schools all over the UK, if you want that license get on the phone Very Happy

I went to the DSA site and managed to get an earlier booking for next week. Thing I noticed was there were loads of slots between now and december so I think the dec date I was sent by the DSA after they cancelled must just automaticaly have been four weeks away. How shite is that! So thanks for the advice to check bookings I'm now back on track Smile

Slightly OT guys, but I assume you don't need to have passed mod1 already to book mod2?

I'm doing DAS with a local school, and they wanna book me in for my mod2 after I've done my mod1 I think (test date is 19th November).

To be honest, I think that's cutting it a little fine for getting a mod2 date booked in, seeing as slots will be filled up pretty rapidly. Gonna be a piss take as well, seeing as any dates after 16th December and I'll be back at my parents house for Christmas, which is 50 miles from the test centre :/. Would mean stopping at my grandparents house (which granted, is just down the road, but they're a right pair of miserable old codgers Razz gotta love 'em though) for the night.

D: help?

Just going through the DSA booking web page, and it seems you can book mod2 even before passing mod1. You'll just need to give 5 (or is it 3? can't remember) working days notice for cancellation.

Your school however may well have pre-booked slots for themselves, so it wouldn't cost them anything to allocate a mod2 slot to you, and then cancel it if you don't pass mod1 in time - they could easily offer it to another learner then.
