Just been practising at the local tesco car park it was empty where I was practising and was told by a female worker to follow her as she needs to talk to management about it.
Go into the store to the customer service desk where she rings management, to find out that I can't practise on the car park as I may hurt myself on the tarmac. (There is a car practising at the same time, didn't get a mention apparently motorcycles are more vulnerable ).
Was informed further that If I can continue practising or the cameras catch me or the bike doing manoeuvring then the police will be called .
What a nice system they have there. ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

Private car park... but access available to public. Claims in car parks are not that fun to deal with either due to the grey area
I would have carried on. |

Can't see the police being too arsed about it tbh.
What's the crime you're committing anyway? Maybe you should ask the fuckwit this question.
If , as she is suggesting, that their carpark tarmac is unsafe for bikes to ride on, maybe you could ask them to put up a sign saying something along the lines of "No Bikes Allowed Due To Unsafe surface"
Or maybe this woman just has too much time on her hands and is bored of life . You could try suggesting that to her also |

Sounds more like brown nosing and a power trip, basically she has seen Sammy and doesn't like him drifting his CG around on crisp packets in the car park, she has then decided that it is "her store" and needs to bring this up with the manager so she is seen as a good employee.
Again I would have carried on and said exactly what others have said, if she is worried about it being unsafe for bikes they need to put signs up to say, "this car park is not suitable for motorbikes" Really though she is a jumped up jobsworth twat.
Did you get their names Sammy? If so just write a letter to head office and anonymously and just put on there that
"Store worker X and Manager X at Branch X are jumped up jobsworth twats who do not deserve a job, as they think of themselves as above everyone else."
I would award points for putting in the complaint mentioning that either the manager, or shop woman (depending on managers gender) had hygiene problems and their balls/minge stinks, but if you do that you will need a more eloquent letter than what I put above, but don't put your address on it. ____________________ Stinkwheel: You have no right to free speech

I think they're perfectly within their rights. It's a privately owned carpark, not a motorcycle training school. If you rocked up to the carpark at my work and started driving round and round in it, I'd tell you to sling your hook too.
Just as you are within your rights to not shop there again.
Don't you have any industrial estates where you come from? That's where people usually go and practice and since they are a public highway, you're perfectly entitled ride round and round as much as you like providing you comply with traffic regulations. Saturday afternoons are good.
What I don't understand is why you meekly followed her into the store to receive a bollocking instead of cupping your left hand to the side of your helmet level with your ear, repeatedly saying pardon then revving up the engine whenever she tried to speak, then ride off. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Mate of mine had his, I guess bit on the side who is a bet mental, actually put in that exact formal complaint about a man whos balls wreaked, would stand near desk fans and the smell would just travel and make the girls wretch.

Private car park open to the public, if it was a locked private car park then you can happily get the police involved, but then you would really have to have grounds for it to be criminal or aggravated trespass.
What Smiler is/was doing as far as I can see is perfectly legal, lots of people do it, it is a free car park open to the public, so he isn't trespassing, and for that matter there is naff all they can do, all they can do is ask them to move on politely, and you can tell them of ferk orf ____________________ Stinkwheel: You have no right to free speech

Aren't the car parks there for customers only? Just saying. Easily dealt with, go buy a bottle of pop etc. |

I'd like to see chapter and verse on that one.
It is treated as a public road for the purposes of insurance and traffic regulations but I seriously doubt you have an absolute right of access. If it is ever closed, even for one day a year, they can decide who is and is not allowed in there. Same applies to military roads. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Some one trespass
| Quote: | Civil Trespass: Civil trespass, also known as "simple" trespass, is not a criminal offence in the UK. You cannot be arrested for civil trespass, though police may attend if there's a possibility that another offence has been committed or will be committed. In England and Wales, you can be sued by the landowner in a civil court for trespass, in Scotland you can only be sued if actual damage was caused. Repeat trespass could be prevented if a landowner takes out an injunction, but this is unlikely in urbex situations.
Aggravated Trespass: This applies to trespass committed with the intent to intimidate or disrupt people taking part in a lawful activity. If you trespass on a golf course to move the flags, it's aggravated trespass. Generally, this does not concern urbexers. You cannot be prosecuted for aggravated trespass where there is no activity to disrupt, so it does not apply to derelict sites. It would only apply to live sites if you intended to cause disruption.
Criminal Trespass: One type of this offence applies to a specific list of sites, including defence sites, nuclear power stations and royal palaces. The full list can be found here. Another type applies to sites where bye-laws forbid trespass - these include MOD property, railway property, and perhaps other sites like power stations. There is no centralised list of bye-laws, unfortunately, but this site lists MOD bye-laws. A third type of criminal trespass applies to Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
From an urbex point-of-view, it is a good idea to stay away from any active military, nuclear, royal, utility or railway property - pretty much common sense. |
But there is no real law I am aware of that says you can't drive around a car park, happy to be proven wrong, but I don't believe there is one that states this, as long as you obey the highway code and your vehicle is road legal, all they can do is stand and watch getting mad, after all they are just a member of the public, they have no powers to move you on, it is like me telling you to move your car/bike. ____________________ Stinkwheel: You have no right to free speech

I honestly cannot believe the number of people that will follow and listen to fauxthority.
Seriously my life has become more fun and simpler since I stopped paying attention to anyone in a hi-vis that ain't a copper.
Had an interesting conversation with a security guard at Spitafields.
I had parked my bike on a pedestrianised area while I went to Cycle Surgery.
I came back and this alcoholic looking security guard came up to me. I put my gear on while he is talking.
"You can't park here"
"Obviously I can I just have"
"You're not allowed"
"Oh"
"This is Private Property"
"Oh"
"Why did you park here"
"Because I needed to go into Cycle Surgery"
"No..."
"What do you mean no? I think I know my reason for parking somewhere"
"Week have your registration details on camera"
"Oh and what are you gonna do with that then?"
"Well if you come back further action will be taken"
"Oh"
At this point I have put my gear on and am ready to leave
"You really shouldn't park here"
"Well I'm leaving now so what's the problem?"
"You're not allowed to park here!"(He is getting slightly upset now)
"And I'm leaving now so what is the problem?"
"This is Private Property"
"And I'm leaving now so what is the problem?"
His head and shoulders drop as he finally concedes and I ride off.

It's called a "route of good intention" you have an implied right of access but this can be withdrawn.
Contract law can also come into play. By using the carpark, you agree to comply with the terms and conditions of such use which will be on a sign somewhere. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Ask for SIA badge, they will ask why.
You tell them that they need one, to tell you to do anything in regard to your parking, they can do nothing other than request you move or issue a fake parking ticket, if they block you, threaten to (illegally) clamp you or any such is an arrestable offence unless showing a SIA badge.,
One such jobsworth in a truck park in brum area looked like he was going to cry when i told him to fuck off or i was calling the police when he told me i couldn't park there. ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse?
