Ok, this should probably be on workshop but hey ho!

I'm after a chain splitter and riveter tool, don't want to spend bucket loads but also don't want cheap crap..

A slitting disc is my chain splitter, and I made my own riveting tool for £0. Why not do the same?

I bought one on ebay, pretty handy, but I just use a grinder to take the chain off.

Curious as to why you need one on your Varadero. It comes with a split link chain.

Surprisingly easily.

1x M20x70 bolt
1x M12x70 bolt
1x centrepunch
1xM12x15 grub screw
1x G-clamp
MIG welder
Pillar drill

this + about 45 minutes = this monstrosity. Contrary to appearance, it does the job just perfectly.

It was originally perfectly tig'd, but it cracked during use, so the blobs of vertical MIG were used to strengthen the shit out of it.

I have one very like that. Probably is the same, but I'd look harder on eBay as they can be got a bit cheaper. Did the job fine for me.

Just realised I got mixed up, I was looking at the hints and tips bit that shows how to break/split a chain.!

Possibly just made my job easier Very Happy

You could always just use a smaller G clamp, then no welding required. Other than that, it's just drilling 3 holes and tapping them. If you're not capable of that, then you need help.
