I am looking for a good camp site in the south east that has something, preferably on foot , that you could spend a day doing. A larget town etc.

2 nights, late July and the ability to have a fire would be a big bonus.

No it wasn't. And when getting kicked off the site (let us back the next year) after one lad got drunk and though he was rambo but ended up being arrested.
I apologised for us all and called him Malcom before leaving.

Not useful at all but thought I'd share:

Few years ago went with my bro and a mates for an impulsive camping mission at the Lake District. Got settled at a pretty awesome spot, then, soon after, my mate got a text, from his mum , saying there was a severe weather warning for the lake district and to avoid peaks and ridges above 300m. We were on a 300m ridge.
