Anyone know about these please? I have 2 in the house and one of them randomly cuts out and tells me that there is no signal. I thought that it was something to do with the dish until I realised that the other one still receives full signal.

Is this a common fault Question Any ideas what to do Question All help gratefully received. Smile xx

I'm no electrical engineer, but taking a wild stab at it, I'd say phoning Sky might be the first port of call.

Thanks, but my experience of phoning Sky is that a. they don't know squat, and b. I end up paying money I don't have. Sad

Make sure you have the connectors on the cables nice and secure and screwed tightly into the box (giggety).

Try swapping the boxes over and see if the problem follows the 'dodgy' box.

As above that will rule out a problem with the quad LNB.

Were these installed by sky? or have you bought one and self installed I only ask as I thought a standard dish cannot handle two sky+ boxes as there is 4 feeds (2 per sky+, 1 per regular sky), I thought 3 feeds was the max without upgrading the dish??? (I'm sure thats what the sky guy said when he was here last)

I have an 8 port LNB, £15 offa ebay. Works a treat. The dish is but a dish and still gathers the signal into the LNB.

Oh, and a standard having 4 inputs means 2 sky + boxes works fine.

Does it happen when it's raining? Heavy rain disrupts the signal. Rolling Eyes

we had the same problem, but recordings failed too, tried everything and I was sure it was the box, called them up and they wanted serious money to come out as we were out of warranty and we hadn't renegotiated the contract for years, so I held on the phone for ages talking crap and eventually they decided to send me a HD box if I paid the delivery and upgraded us to HD for no more money

mine did it, swapped the box for my old one and it was indeed the box playing up, had had it less than a year so Sky replaced the box, something to do with a tuning cam and it apparently happened on one kind of box in particular, Thomson or Amstrad can't remember which one. They were really good on that occasion and whilst on the phone to them they talked me through the process of setting my card to my old box so I still had all my channels whilst waiting for a replacement.

Down side was I lost everything I'd recorded on there, had all 6 Saw movies, half on box and half DVD and planned to watch them all one after the other on a lazy weekend, never happened as they wouldn't repair it.

My old Sky+ box packed up with the same symptoms.
I opened it up to discover a couple of capasitors had failed so I took them out, went to Maplin for replacements and its been fine eversince.

Right, I've swapped the Sky+ boxes round and the fault is in the box. The good news is that I can now perv over Artem, the bad news is that I don't speak Skybox, so I have no idea how to swap capacitors or what an any number of port LNB is. It's Thomson box which is well out of its guarantee.

Could anyone help please? Diagrams and words of no more than one syllable pleeeeeeese. xxx

My SKY + box recently started having a fit. Only had it 13 months, turns out the HDD was going on it. So got another 2nd hand.
