 |
|
Alright guys. Tomorrow I will be ply-lining my van.
Never done it before. But I want to do a decent job of it.
I can buy a pre-cut kit off ebay for £130 delivered But I've seen lots of ply-lined vans (Even Kangoo's like mine) which have come into work, and the kits just dont cut it for what I want. They all have ghastly gaps down the sides, and dont cover all the metal work etc.
My intention is to have full side panels, rather than a small panel along the bottom, and a panel in the upper recess at each side, revealing all the battered metal work in between.
Full ply floor. And a ply ceiling.
Then some ply on the lower half of the rear door.
For the rear door, and floor, I have templates already. The original plastic units.
For the sides, and roof, I have nothing.
Where would one start in getting the shape for the wood?
It's asking a lot for me to get big enough sheets of card board to do template, as it's got to be like 4ft x 6ft (ish).
Any help from the chippies/joiners will be massively appreciated.
I also want to carpet it all after. Best way to do this? Staples, or glue?

Know any decent bodyshops?
Go get some good lengths of brown masking paper and use that for templates; stick it up with masking tape or blu-tak. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Damn, never thought of that!
I've got boxes and boxes of recycled paper floor mats (A2 size) at work.
Could tape a load together, and do as you suggested.
Thanks dude! |

Get some cardboard boxes, from the skip behind your local supermarket, flatten them out and cut your templates from them.
They'll be easier to use than paper! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |
