Posted: 16:25 - 10 Nov 2012 Post subject: Ebay buyer wants to return bike! |
 |
|
Looking for some advice.
Sold a bike on Ebay last week, all went well, buyer did a best offer and came to collect the bike the other day. He looked round it, took it our for a ride, came back and we did the paperwork and money was exchanged, etc...
Now he has called to say he has found issues with the bike, that it has been dropped on it's side and wants his money back.
He claims it's not as described but the items he is quoting I never knew and certainly did not try and hide, I would never sell a bike knowing things were wrong without fixing them or as a minimum declare on the auction.
What he is saying amongst others is that there is a weld that should not be on the under side of the exhaust, part of the pipe is squashed, the back plastics are loose and dont appear to be the right ones for the bike, etc...
Anyyway, I said no to taking the bike back, but where do I stand? I have sold loads of bikes over the years on ebay and other places and never had this before.
I am not saying he is not right about the things that may be wrong but I never noticed them. |

As above really.
Unless you lied and said it was perfect when it was dodgy then he cant do anything.
Some people are really stupid when it comes to stuff like this.
I sold my old bike as spares or repairs because I couldnt get it firing on all cylinders and it was revving high.
Guy came round, inspected it, checked it over, took it.
Week later, said he had stripped it and said he had found loads of faults and so wanted a refund
Main reasons I didnt refund:
Sold as not working, why did he expect everything to be spot on?
He inspected the bike before he bought it ?!
I dont know if he has caused more damage or swapped good parts for bad parts and is trying to con me. ____________________ Ex bikes: 05 Suzuki En 125, '98 Yamaha Thundercat, '08 Honda cbr125, '05 Kawasaki z750, '03 Triumph Daytona 600, '91 Kawasaki ex250, '03 Hyosung Comet 125

I bought a Thundercat which looked fine when I viewed it, rode perfect etc.
When I got home the engine sounded a little noisy, turns out the headers were getting pretty ancient and started blowing.
I didnt run back to him and say oooh this is broken, do me a refund.
What I did do is let him know the exhaust was starting to rot, but otherwise the bike is absolutely fine.
The guy refunded me £20 even though I didn't ask... just becuse he felt bad. |
