This morning I was woken up by some rally cars dicking about in the street outside my flat:

By the time I got outside they were warming up a single seater:

And eventually busted out the GP2 cars:

(watch out for the camera man falling over in the last one)

A little later on I took the classic fiat 500 out in the hope of getting a part in the filming.

While that didn't happen I was photographed and filmed by the assembled crowd so look out on youtube for someone pootling about on the same streets Smile

nice Thumbs Up must be for some sort of sporting advertisement or some shit. it'd be the only way a Qashqai could remain in front of them!

The Lux government are pumping a lot of money into the area where I live. It's a former steel works and they've built a shopping centre and a massive business park (they're still building and renovating). I'm guessing they're showing off that but it could be anything really...

Here's a couple of pics of the area, my flat is in the third block on the right. They've got a strange mix of modern and industrial - they're actually doing it really well.

Looks nice, just like the disused docks in Liverpool.

yeah it does go strangely well, in Glasgow they're just ripping down anything that looks old and replacing it thanks to the commonwealth games, cue roadworks everywhere and diversions till 2013 etc.

if it aint broke - dont fix it. i'd like to have some interesting things like your steelworks still standing years from now

I hope you remembered your British roots (are you British?). You should have been out there complaining about the noise and telling them to pack it in Laughing

I am, but I think I'm too close to France now (can see it from my window) so the second I saw a blockaded road I just wanted to join in Wink

Another shot of the place below, this time the more modern end of the main area:

Yeah, paddy got it right - there's a bridge behind it that leads to the top of the steps. The first pic I posted does have a set of steps with a park bench and nothing else on top though.

My flat is in a block that has a roof garden, so I come down stairs onto a roof that is still 2 3 floors up. From there I can see into the glass roof of the shopping centre below.

The old steel works are being preserved as a museum - I'm looking forward to the sky walk opening - they'll take you on a tour about 10-12 floors up on grated metal walkways.

The whole area is definitely an architect's wet dream...

That'll be youtube's auto shake reduction taking the already meagre quality of the iPhone right down. Did a good job though - the original videos were shaky as hell.
