Best time ever, weekends / bank hols / Xmas took its toll eventually!

Prospective with a difference. I live in rugby area but don't mind commuting to Brum as the route is piss easy.

I have a draft proposal letter made up if people could give me feedback?

Birmingham. expect a visit from some old firm families regarding your security arrangements. I take it you will be looking towards the Hurst St region of our city?

Not a bar manager but work in a private club behind the bar currently and have had serious experience in branded pubs. One of the biggest losses in revenue, believe it or not, come from inability to pull pints correctly. Wastage and not enough head (not like that perverts!) costs a small fortune.

Push the ice in soft drinks. You would be surprised at how much you gain from these simple measures.

Theme nights. You'll have to go with what the locals and clientelle is in the area. If its full of students, student deals on Friday and Saturday nights. Full of crusties, open mike night once a week. Pub quiz on a Sunday or Monday. Little things like that dont cost much to organize and they do start pulling in the punters.

Anything else just PM me and we'll see what else I can remember.

What is the capacity of the venue and what are the current policy nights (and any that are term time only)

How is it trading at the minute?

Is there any " Scene" in Coventry? A very long time ago I used to travel to MK each Sunday night by train and all the Cov twinks, queens and bears used to get on at New St to go back home.

As mentioned by Cov above the only lgbt venue in cov is rainbows... went there for a night just to assess the atmosphere... didnt stay long it was that bad...

and yeah, everyone heads to pink punters in MK if they can afford the train fare and enough to keep them happy at the bar...

worked in a number of bars previously so can only offer advice on that, but train your staff properly, especially if its their first bar job. Wastage on pints is ridiculous, there was a guy I worked with who poured a head about 50% of the pint. Upselling too, deals like double up for £1 or 6 shots for the price of 4 etc. Also make sure your staff know which drinks are the most profitable, especially on lagers and ciders as you often have people just after one or the other and nothing specific, so its easy to get a bit more revenue from that, even if its only a few pence per pint.
