Yesterday I decided to fit the alarm to the bike, but was suddenly stopped in my tracks by a fairing bolt (more screw type) with a chewed up head.

I have looked online for a replacement (silly £+p&p) if I've found the right one. I couldn't find a parts diagram so I suppose I'm asking for,

1, a parts diagram.
2, if anyone knows exactly what kind of bolt it is (m5 or m6)?
,3 or if you have one kicking around the garage, I'll happily cover your costs.

It would REALLY help any one trying to help if you actually indicated what fairing bolt it was.

Shocking isn't it.

Before that price the next cheapest was £3.90 for bolt and £7.95 postage. Third cheapest came in at £17 delivered.

That's what I was thinking, it's as easy as taking in the old one and saying you need something to match.

£8 is a crazy price.

Honda fairing bolts sometimes have a non threaded shoulder to prevent damage to the plastic.

If you get aftermarket then you can duplicate this using a sleeve of copper or rigid plastic (shoulder washers).

e.g.
Original Honda...

Although I have found Honda use 5mm hex allen key size and aftermarket ones are frequently 4mm.

The only reason for paying it was to keep all manufacturing original parts whilst still under warranty.

Didn't want to have to take bike in under warranty for something and them to refuse cause there was a non standard part, therefore possibly compromising the warranty.

I did look at these, but my original part has a Philips head, this proved to be a bit harder to find. Honda have listed it as discontinued.

That's odd for it to be discontinued. Let me have bike model and year and I might be able to track down part number. That may then come up against other bikes as Honda like to use the same bits bin.

If already ordered you'll have a part number though.

Err, sorry to be bearer of bad news but I think you need to look again.
For the part number you gave, 90112MC7000
Enter in David Silver site £2.65 plus £1.95postage = £5.52 inc VAT. (click here).
That's for a part that they say special order.
That probably means is they have to get it from a Honda dealer.

If you can get to the Lings Honda site have a look for it on there.

What size is that screw/bolt, does it have the shoulder collar? I ask as it looks like the 5mm hex version from the Blackbird may fit. Look at part # 90112-MAT-000. Size is 6X16.

I mention as I find the Philips type used by Honda to be like cheese and disintegrate. The hex allen ones hold up well.
If you need a Philips/X-head then part # 83641-KY6-000 is the same size/match as the 90112-MAT-000 - see pic on cmsnl here.

I have gotten fairing fastners and rubber well nuts for screens from this guy on ebay before:
