hello all, what are the chances of finding another zip that is the same as the one on my alpinestar leather jacket ?

When i mean the same - so i can use another male and female zip parts to make a joiner out of - basicaly letting out my jacket abit but just by having another zip on the front.

so looking from the front it would be two zips with a small amount of material up the midde.

my reason for wanting this is intend to do a rwyb drag this weekend and my beer belly wont get into the leathers... and cant get a leather alterations comapany todo it in time.

So question where could i look for a zip to ? would local zip repair shops be likely to have somthing that fits ?

Thanks for any help - if you understand what im after

Local Zip Repair shop/fabric shop should be able to sort it for about £15.

Have you tried laying on your back while doing up the zip? It's surprising how much easier it is when you do Smile

I think he may have managed to lose the beer belly in the two and a half years since he posted. Rolling Eyes

Blimey Smiler, where do you go.I just paid £50 to have a new zip and some leather/velcro straps fitted at the
wrist zips on an ebay jacket I liked and bought but needed tidying up.£40 of that was just the zip and fitting.
Sure, if I'd known the main zip on it was knackered I'd not have bought it but it worked as it should twice
before dying on me so not really the sellers fault, just bad luck.
The quality of the work is pretty good and you'd struggle to know it had been repaired but still a lot of dough
when I already spent that buying the (used) jacket. I'll get a summer out of it and sell it on next year after
I've got some wear out of it.

If the zip itself is ok and it's just a knackered slider it is possible to cut off the old slider and obtain a replacement repair slider - these differ from normal sliders in that they open up (like an alligator's jaw) so that you can put them in place without damaging the zip teeth/endstops. Once in place you just clamp them shut with a pair of pliers. They're about £3 each from my local coachtrimmer.

Nah the zip was worn, it was bursting open along its length after being zipped up. Interesting to hear you can buy those
though, I've a bodywarmer that needs fixed as well. Thumbs Up
