Winter training?

What do you use for winter training?
Exercise bike
Turbo trainer
Rollers

Or are you more of a man than me and go outside to cycle in all weathers?

Part of the enjoyment is looking around.
I ride outside.

Now have a turbo trainer; as didn't think the puppy I'd offered to look after last weekend could quite keep up with 43mph on the descents of my local half-hour burn calories route.

From what I can work out, do probably 'try' a bit harder on the turbo too, so think I'll try and use it more.

But otherwise, it's the outdoors. Usually done late at night to make up for eating too much in the day!
Found I don't mind the rain THAT much if I have waterproof kit and some glasses of some kind to keep it out of my eyes on aforementioned descents.

Too wimpy for rollers (want to take breaks, sit up with hands off bars etc a fair bit). Am tempted by a cheap exercise bike to make it quieter and take up less space inside.

as of last weekend, an old skiing jacket and gloves with fingers on them.

looking at a full face helmet and goggles to keep the mud out of my eyes/mouth though

Turbo trainer + iPad + headphones + film = less boring time.

Still try to get out when it's dry though, trainers are pretty dull.

In winter I tend to go out on the bike on a Sunday unless it has been below freezing overnight incase of ice. Throughout the week I keep the bike in the garage and don my running gear instead.

I just bought a hi vis wooly hat, other than that, tights, two or three layers, overshoes, and decent gloves. I do short loops in the evenings which are on well lit quiet roads, and keep the tempo up to keep warm.

I mostly ride at the bike park/ on trails near me. So I ride all year.

Bright green beanies in the pound shop sold as 'teen fashion hat' or something.

Unfortunately can't quite handle aforementioned 43mph - but 15p of elastic seems to have sorted it.

28c tyres.

Marathon winters when its snowing or icy.

Merino wool.

Overshoes.

Full mud guards.

That is all.

Rain, snow and cold doesn't bother me. It's the wind that really pisses me off! The one type of weather it's impossible to guard against

I have one of these and it seems to "be ok". Not amazing, but 'ok' at least. Trying to work out calories burnt is a bit more hassle though - need that powertap .

Picked myself up a nice CycleOps mag trainer.
Just need to get rid of my cold so i can try it out when i can breathe!
