Any recommendations? I realize I won't exactly be getting the best of the best at that budget, but that is my budget. I know none of them will keep me warm or waterproof when the weather is truly shocking, but just need something that won't render my hands useless if I go for a ride for an hour.

Any thoughts?

Hi there

Check out ghostbike.com, I picked up some winter gloves there for under £20 and so far. They have kept my hands nice, warm and dry Wink

I got a pair of these, spend the remaining tenner on some thin liner gloves and you're sorted. (along with a bit of wax on the leather).

Warm & waterproof, but if you have little hands don't bother!

I wouldn't want to be using controls with a single finger.

Zoidbergs FTW

Try ghostbikes as said.

I got some "Black" winter gloves from there for £15 or so. So far I'm very impressed and hands are relatively warm.

Hmm, been having a look at those Black gloves, if they're decent might pull the trigger.

As for the Zoidberg gloves...Don't think I'd get on with them. Did see them and consider them, but seems very odd to me...Can you get used to them easily?

I really do hate Ghostbikes sometimes. Never ever seem to have stock of the cheap stuff. Always only available in the odd sizes...

The thumb does all that stuff, the finger arrangement's fine for me. And it's easier to pick my nose at the lights.

With the cow-hoof mitts it is actually seperate fingers inside and they almost feel like normal gloves.

Don't really want muffs, my bike looks like enough of a shit heap already, don't want to be adding to it! Also, can't find the highly recommended Tucano Urbano ones within my budget.

Also, I do need some new gloves, so might as well.

Not to sound like a dick, but didn't go with any of your recommendations, but that is mainly due to stock issues.

Have gone for these:

Have found one good review of the Cube Polar Force glove, time will tell. I'll post an update once I've tried them out incase anyone is interested.

Afaik does not gortex help, my hg ones seem ok, and are not overly padded, icebreaker liners shall be tested within them tomorrow

I should add, my current attempt at a solution is for 30 mins top winter rides / on route journeys.

If you want and as other have said, warm hands, then the muffs heated gloves or grips even guards, a combination of them is the way too go, as peeps on here know this through actually riding further in winter. Thumbs Up

There were some RST winter gloves at SMC for £17 last weekend! A couple of baskets full in their clothing section. If I had known you wanted some I would have sent you a text. My girlfriends mum got some and she always complains about her hands being cold but she said the RST ones kept her hands warm for a lot longer than her old ones, and her old ones were decent. It might be worth you popping down and seeing if they still have some left, I almost bought some as a back-up pair.

Probably a really stupid post but....

A couple of years ago the girlfriend and I bought a sledge (i know....) , Anyway after a day of my hands feeling tlike they were going to fall off, the next time we tried it i wore latex gloves (the kind get a box of 100 for a couple of quid that you keep in your garage) under some old biking gloves.

Kept my hands dry and suprisingly fairly warm depsite the old bike gloves getting soaked through with snow and ice.

Maybe worth a try?

Completely off topic - how do you post text with strikethrough?

These really do keep you hands and gloves dry and warm and are no more bulky than many winter gloves - all for £10

We're in for a heatwave this winter... the Daily Fail reported coldest in 100 years to come, so that must be completely wrong! Wink

I have a pair of the lobster claw gloves and it is a bit weird at first but once used to it they are really quite comfortable. Mine are just a tad tight as my hands are as thick as me. Smile
