This is not a Brazilian, Its a Jap with what looks to be a Brazilian engine.

Odd, considering your bike is an '84. The whole loom would have had to be changed, Brazilians were 12v whereas yours 'Should' be 6v.

How much did you pay for it?

£300

i basically bought it to take it to bits an rebuilt it

engine is stamped BR-E an the loom has Spanish stickers on it an is 12v

how can you tell the frame is Jap?

its a B reg so 84 - 85

'84 models were Japanese with 6 volt systems. They had a more curved styling.

The engine looks wrong too.. Here is a pic of my '81 CG., Your should be pretty much identical to this:

I wouldn't worry, Chances are that someone has just swapped the engine and loom over as an easy 12v conversion.

As long as they've done it correctly it should be even more bulletproof.

Thumbs Up HTH

nice!

that looks sweet!

when i first got it i got the AA to run a check on the plates as the guy i bought it from said "it had just been used on the farm track outside his house" so i first thought it was nicked

the checks come back clean though so happy days!

fingers crossed i can get it back on the road

Does the VIN number STAMPED INTO THE FRAME match the log book? I was almost stung with a CG once, the seller had removed the stick on VIN plate from another bike and placed it over the stamped frame area on the bike for sale, cheeky bastard nearly caught me out.

The 1984 model was called the CG 125 E, the CG 125 BR-E/F was the 85-88 model and was made in Brazil with 12 volt electrics. Production was moved to turkey in 99 when it became the CG 125 W. Either way nice to do a rebuild on the Cg especially for your first bike at least it gives you an idea of how and what to do. So you are not scared of sorting it out for yourself in the future.

Number should be stamped onto the headstock.
