Ola' Smile

I have recently bought a 2001 hornet 600. What is the correct method for checking the oil level.?

As you will probably know the hornet does not have a centre stand as standard. Do I :-

Check the level with it on it's side stand or hold the bike upright.

After wiping the dipstick do I just reinsert it until the screw threads stop it going in, remove and check. Or do I screw it back in, unscrew then check.

Cheers, Nick

Don't let it fall on top of you or over onto the ground when you're busy fannying with the bloody dipstick mind.
