just tidying up my zxr400 Havant washed it in around 4 months its tires are barley legal i had a small off cracked the screen and wing mirror generally just a bit un tidy

This isn't for any other reason than to keep track of what I've spent and what i need to do still

-New exhaust
-take off manifold and clean it up
-spray Nassert Beet engine casing matt black
-remove radiator, straighten fins, spray black remove rust inside, fit new Green silicone hose's
-New spark plugs, oil and filter
-New indicators and resistors all round (currently have non)
-New tires
-New air-blade screen
-New front and rear brake hose's
-Have swing arm polished and lacquered
-New stainless steel fairing kit
-LED tail light
-Paint subframe black
-change any hose's or vacuum pipes to green silicone hose's

So time to crack on had alot of new parts arrive a few day's ago:

This turned up got to have small clips welded on with no equipment my self having it done this friday by a friend, the exhaust is not road or race legal and pretty much kills cats and old people Thumbs Up

https://i.ebayimg.com/t/TYGA-MOTO-MAGGOT-END-CAN-NC30-NC23-NC29-ZXR400-FZR400-GSXR-/00/s/MzAwWDQwMA==/$(KGrHqV,!nsFCrWfq0ElBQrEcMCqwg~~60_12.JPG

New tires turned up road attack continental decided on these for winter after having supercorsa's which was amazing but didn't agree with wet roads read these seem ok in winter

[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/p206x206/18300_10200130215197799_88138058_n.jpg
[/img]

to replace my near slicks:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/27936_10200130217637860_388428335_n.jpg

Out of nowhere my brake fluid seemed to just vanish and my brembo callipers have become boob like....soft and squashy

go it up on the ramp and bled brakes through with new fluid flushed all the old stuff out

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/270113_10200130215357803_1894778737_n.jpg

The brakes improved but still not as 'tight' as they was found one of the aluminium fittings had split but not leaked. seems when i squeeze the lever so much the wheels not longer move but i can still squeeze a lot more all the way to my grip intact (brake hose's expanding a little bit) which suggests the inside of them has gone like shit so ordered some new Bridgestone stainless from flea bay

Also tightened my chain too much a while back causing it to snap and shit my rear wheel bearings, so new bearings new soft link in the chain but sprocket looks a bit shit as you can see.

Also needed a new cush drive:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/15077_10200130217197849_750978459_n.jpg

Picked this up from Cradley Kawasaki and can i just say how helpful they are in that place, ok the price is ludacris for a lot of things but the staff compared to places such as street bike are far far better, i swear some of the staff at street bike nearly ask 'do you want fries with that?' Laughing

Waiting on this shock to arrive:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/p206x206/68044_10200130223278001_1564449544_n.jpg
picked this up pretty good price just waiting for it to arrive now thanks to the chap on ZXR400 WORLD

just think it will make my backside look a bit nicer and everyone likes a nice backside not one thats gone all shitty

as you can see my radiators being well looked after Rolling Eyes regular changes and that orange colour is where water leaked out and was never cleaned off, due to a failed cap that water got all over my frame engine exhaust and fairings and was never cleaned off.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/63341_10200130222317977_1206822154_n.jpg

Waiting for hose's and a fin straightening tool to sort it out should be painting it black after pretty cheap considering a bottle of coolant premixed is around £7 the hose's can cost £80 for samco or £30 for any other silicone hose at the same quality and paint is £5 and a straightening tool about the same you can even just use a knife or pliers to do it...so for £5 you've restored your own radiator to a certain degree.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/p206x206/72110_10200130222837990_2146987397_n.jpg

these are stainless steel so should clean up pretty well most of the stuff on there is rusty water from the rad will get them scrubbed up when i get the manifold off to be welded

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/532233_10200130220637935_1242767250_n.jpg

This happened when my oil cooler hose split about 6 months ago and i just never washed it off its all dried into the foam and gone really shitty so will get all the panels off and clean them up fit new foam and heat shield in places when it all arrives

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/p206x206/556673_10200130217837865_921374087_n.jpg

Now i never knew what nassert beet was until i got this bike its basically a Japanese performance company they make fantastic titanium exhausts at very high price's they do rear set's engine covers and parts all to a very high standard. Someone offered me £60 for this cover but i couldn't find another i liked more so decided to keep it going to spray it matte black like the following i seen online

https://i493.photobucket.com/albums/rr296/Unobtanium2/ZXR400H/ReBuild/P1170744.jpg

Thats all for now just waiting on parts and what not pretty much
already fitting new plugs oil and filter also snipped the ends of my leads some WD40 in there can really make a difference to how your bike runs Thumbs Up[img][/img]

a Long delayed update....

old headstock bearings was a nice brown colour

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/859195_3810721926200_642166133_o.jpg

no bearing pulling in sight and didnt need to replace bottom seal as it was obviously keeping the water in so why change it, used a dremel to get the bearing a nice slit in then just prised it off, worked super easy with no problems surprisingly...

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/601405_10200807444208101_2074968167_n.jpg

Fitted a new screen Double bubble and new mirrors as seen in this photo:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/166733_10200807443208076_196995752_n.jpg

Ignore that rear hanger, was going to drill and thread a new hole further up the swing arm but decided the can was much to loud so sold it and got this bad boy....

https://i.ebayimg.com/t/SUZUKI-A16-MOTO-GP-CARBON-STUBBY-EXHAUST-2-link-pipe-/00/s/MTAwMFgxMDAw/$(KGrHqZ,!l!E65KGG46tBOzBosDhkQ~~60_35.JPG

Fitted a new H frame after mine was bent (cracked the old screen and front nose cone) :
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/734499_10200807442568060_1359457349_n.jpg
Very nice but at £50 from Cradley was abit pricey to see one went on ebay for £30

But had some bargains from cradley like new clutch cable front wheel seals / bears and rear wheel beards and sprocket bearing.....

Didnt manage to photo these being done as i forgot

Rear caliper split clean and fitted with all new seals: https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/480147_10200807444648112_1208355762_n.jpg

Easiest job so far by far even getting the bearings out...simply drained al fluid split calliper used compressed air in the workshop to just push it through and with a beautiful pop it just came out...

will get photos of calliper all back together and on bike later on....will get photos of exhaust also but heres a little flyby : https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10200807665613636¬if_t=video_processed

and with a girlfriend who doesnt mind a nie little 3 hour drive to colchester and three hours back i managed to get a fully restored, i say restored very bloody lightly!!! Thumbs Down set of panels with a tank which still has fuel pump and lock attached....dont get me wrong theres no cracks in the panels and they are pretty clean nose cone just needs two parts touching up before it can all be fitted though..... quick photo

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/63212_10200807422327554_373573032_n.jpg

going to either have bottom of belly panels in black with white stickers (brembo ect) or have it vinyl wrapped at the bottom to save costs unsure yet....

Also considering a cbr600rr race unit but gain unsure yet.

Cradley kawasaki ARE wayyyyyy better than Street bike..
Street bike want to sell you the latest bike and all the kit, Cradley are quite happy keeping an old(er) bike on the road..often used to drool at the older stuff they had hanging from the roof....do they still have the Z9 in the showroom??? once saw a guy offer £15,ooo cash for it - and they refused (this was in 1987)

Please don't ruin it.

Or sell it on at an overly inflated price. Wink
