Good on yer. It's a fantastic feeling when you get on a motorbike for the first time. Good choice in doing your CBT on a geared bike and not a twist 'n' go chicken chaser.
Enjoy yourself and listen to the instructors. Then go on and get the full license where you'll really enjoy yourself!

Hehe, the free sample! Classic way to get a junkie Wink

Just watch the bends on the road ride, you may not be up to leaning with the bike just yet (I nearly went over onto the pavement but stayed up so passed Mr. Green )

CBT is nice and easy, its a days training and the only test involved is reading a license plate at 20m away. otherwise you cant fail your CBT.

although if your not up to standard they may ask you to come back for more training before signing the cert. but thats nothing to worry over.

search for a member on here called teflon mike, check out the links in his signature, loads of information on there to help newbie riders.

also, be aware of the license law changes in january.

other than that, sit back, relax, listen to your CBT instructor and just go with the flow.

the road ride is a little nerving at first. you certainly feel the higher vulnrability than in a car, but to be honest, after the first 10/15 minutes of being on the road you'll find you settle into things and relax more.

one tip though, dont over grip the handle bars, if you feel you need a tighter grip on the bike, grip the tank with your knees/thighs instead.

have fun!!!!

Arguably I would say that no road experience may make it easier for learning how to ride a bike! Smile

My CBT instructor (or was it in one of Teflon's posts... I can't remember) said how some of the car drivers he taught completely forgot to do some of the most basic tasks... like putting a foot down when stopped to stop the bike falling over... you can guess the outcome of that one! Laughing

As for it being scary, it is a little if you have no road experience. The first time I hit 30mph it felt like I was going warp speed and I wanted to slow down. Now 30 feels like walking pace.

Also... props to you for getting a girlfriend that's in to bikes! Most girls I know hate them Sad

Dpont worry about the licence changes in january. Your a bit late to get liceneces out of the way by then, unless your confident enough after your CBT to sign straight up for a DAS course. But if not don't worry. You really don't want to get in the whole test neurosis thing (which I have to a certain extent) its the one downside of this forum everyone stressing over their tests.

Your GF will thrash you.

Good luck Smile.

I've got mine on Saturday too, theory on the Thursday after. Gives me just over a month to do my Mod 1+2.

PS. I did my taster session over two years ago, and only just getting round to do it xD.

Actually don't delay on doing your theory as its a pain when you think "right I'm ready to do tests" and realise you've forgotten to do the theory. That mistake has put me back by a month at least.

So get a phone revision app and book the theory test now.
