The online quotes are always stupidly high, they are not useful for anything other than comparing what the insurance costs are from bike to bike. To see just how inaccurate they are just get a quote for your existing bike and see how much higher it is than what you're paying now, assuming that you haggled your quote down as they also give you stupid quotes to start with on the phone as well.

generally speaking online quotes are more expensive than on the phone, how old are you?

I hate to make you sick but

I am 28 have been driving since 17 but riding only this year the CG cost me £125 TPFT and the quotes I have had so far for the VFR400 are coming in around £140-£200 TPFT

Cheers

19, but always known online quotes to be daft for lots of other people.

Are those quotes over the phone of £140-200 before you've haggled and phoned around?

How old are you, what insurance cover is that for and how old is the bike? Have you actually bought the bike yet?

Might be worth using Dannys insurance finding service to get cheap insurance.

I always pick up the bike trader mag and spend a hour phoning around playing one off against the other, NEVER ACCEPT THE FIRST QUOTE.

The way I see it a fivers worth of calls and an hour of my time is worth it to save several hundred pounds, the first quote I had for the CG was £750 got that down to £124.39 within four phone calls.

Can I suggest you call telebikes or CIA insurance both are dead cheap.
Or PM Danny I hear his insurance service is good

Cheers

I generally find that online quotes are cheaper! This year I'm paying £450ish through Bennetts - FC for my Fazer, with three years no claims. I still think I'm being ripped off so will be doing some extensive shopping around in March!

440 quid for brand new Fazer FC with zero NCB (on a bike at least) with Yamaha's own insurance.

I should have used Danny, but I didn't know about his service at the time. Rolling Eyes

How old are you RooRoo? And how long have you been riding? If this is your first year of biking and your still in your teens they're going to hammer you no matter what bike you have.

when i was looking for insurance, both phone and on-line, third party was 300 Smile -500 pounds. tpft was 1000 Confused quid and up. fully comp was a joke. £2500+ Shocked for my brand new gs125 with a spyball alarm (£1945), garaged and all!
sad thing is that some people pay for these without phoning around. quite funny actually Laughing

Online quotes are usually way out.

I was quoted £700 TPFT on my current bike, A GPZ500S, I am paying £380 TPFT through CIA whom I played off H&R to get it down.

Your better off getting BikeTrader and sitting down for a few hours and ring as many as you sanely can, and get quotes that way.

I've known on line qoutes to be less then telephone qoutes because they ask more questions on the phone and was told the on line thing was 'a guide'. I said I wasted my time on line and they said 'Well yeah. Really'
