This is an interesting one and has caught me out many times, basically you are riding around a roundabout (virtually turning right) go around on the inside lane. Then have to stop halfway around, however you realise you are close to the kerb (the inside of the roundabout) and not in the centre of the lane.

Just wondering if anyone else has the problem/or noticed it whilst riding around roundabouts that you have to stop on Question

There's one roundabout in my local area like this, it's not actually round! if you come from the south wanting to to turn right last exit (east), take the inside lane and as you go past the 2nd exit the angle of the curve of the roundabout becomes very very acute that you have to slow down and lean right in otherwise you would go straight through the outside lane, very weird

i tend to take roundabouts in 2nd gear and go around at a speed i feel appropriate to maintain the center line in the lane.

screw everyone else, if they get held up by the 5 seconds longer it takes to safely get round it then so be it.

As above - you might not be assessing the road properly. Not all roundabouts are round and moving across in the lane is simply where you've maintained your line whereas the road hasn't. You might need to enter the roundabout in a slightly different position to compensate or reduce your speed slightly to maintain the optimum road position. Smile

When unsure, I just follow the dotted lane markings on my left. It works in the car and on the bike for keeping me on the correct lane (they normally tend to spiral outwards), assuming I've entered the roundabout in the correct lane to begin with.

It's got nothing to do with "roundabouts that you have to stop on", it's to do with you not being in full control of where the bike is going.

Sorry, but you're looking for excuses. The problem is on the seat.

why would you ever need to stop on a roundabout? Unles traffic is so backed up that all the cages are stopped?

People in the roundabout have the right of way over people trying to come in, and you give way to the right.

The whole idea of a roundabout is to not stop traffic.

Some of our round abouts are just paved, no hedges or grass on them. On these, and small ones, I just go right over the top of it as it is faster than going around. the advantage of a DS bike Mr. Green

We get biscuit roundabouts here too, but the persistent rain can make them an adventure to traverse.
We also have traffic lights on many roundabouts here.

The only time I come close to kerbs is doing left turns. Sounds like poor road positioning for you unfortunately.
