Hey sorry I cant help you out on that particular topic but…
One thing that has fucked me off with the DVLA is the fact I cant speak to anyone.
If you want to know anything you have to listen to that annoying recorded bloke or send a letter explaining what you want.
Anyone know how you can chat to someone? ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Hi
To add further to their rip offs they are now proposing that they will charge you for declaring SORN. Current proposal is around £5, but that will no doubt go through the roof.
I really cannot see how they can justify charging us for the utterly pointless SORN declarations. Especially when they want to charge 4 months worth of VED for a 125 if you just want it off the road for a month while you sort out the MOT.
All the best

I have written letters to the buggers FIVE times informing them they have spelled my name incorrectly on my licence.
Once when I first got my licence and saw the mistake. Sent back to me with a printed note saying "there are no errors on your licence".
Again when I had motorcycles put on my provisional. New licence issued with same mistake.
Again when I passed my bike test including correctly spelled pass certificates. New licence issused with same mistake.
Again when I passed my car test (photocard licence). This time as well as spelling it correctly on the form (which I am pretty certain I did on all the others), the pass certificate and the letter explaining they had spelled my name wrong (which I sent with all the others) they also had my passport with it spelled correctly.
Last time with EXTREMELY snotty letter explaining the above and demanding they replace it free of charge with a correctly spelled one since they charged me 24 quid for it. Returned with same printed note as the first time saying there are no errors.
I have now given up on it.
Wankers the lot of them. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

My brother applied for his provisional licence in June. He declared the medical thing as he's on medication which could potentially make him drowsy. He finally got his licence two weeks ago.
June, July, August, September, October... three and a half months?!
By the way, you cannot send off the letter from the Doctor to say you're safe to ride with the application, you cannot send in the medical form to let them assess whether you are safe, they will not pay any attention to this when you do send it in, and they will take at least a fortnight to hand anything to another department.
"Doctor, have you heard from the DVLA?" "Yes, I sent them a letter saying that you're fit to drive three weeks ago." .... 6 weeks pass, and finally a licence appears.
Oh, and that's neglecting the three attempts it took me to get them to register my imported bike... They explain absolutely nothing (no literature with the application form), just send the form back with some cryptic scrawl on a cover note. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

The DVLA's slackness with their medical department isn't all bad, I sent them the forms for them to then take my license away back in July and still havn't had it taken. Had a letter last week telling me that if I chase the NHS up it might go a bit quicker. I then called them to ask what happens with my 33bhp and it goes on pause and currently it is still running. So I've now had 7 months of 33bhp restriction time used up when I havn't even sat on a bike, just need them to drag it out until after Febuary 10th next year. |

It's nice to see it works both ways sometimes. Never did I think that we the humble citizen could actually benefit from beauraucracy, spin and waste, but I was wrong.
You'll be cursing them when the Doctor says you're okay to ride again though, they'll take another six months knowing them... ____________________ I must not be a troll...
