Hi guys, am new to the bike world but hope to meet a great bunch of people on here to share the experience and adrenaline of owning a sports bike. I am booked in to take my direct access in Jan, not the best weather to take it in but just need to get it done and have my eye on which 600 to get so either GSXR 600, CBR 600 RR or the controversial for new riders R6.

I have been into modding cars for years now, mainly the 350z over at the 350z-uk forum great bunch so now at 31 have decided to make the transition over to something a lot more serious.

Here is a pic of my old car that I modded with nos:

and what I currently drive now which I keep for commuting know won't be even close to the feeling of being on a bike:

This is the bike that blows me away on looks, but going to sit on one at the weekend to see if it's for me, as will only use the bike for weekend fun:

thanks guys for your time, great forum site by the way Smile

Judging from your pics you like your fast cars, Or semi fast cars and making them faster.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the DAS. Nothing wrong with the R6 as a first bike after DAS. Just dont get yourself fucking killed. Will give the rest of us a bad rep. Wink Thumbs Up

thanks guys, I always thought everyone was dead set against newbies getting R6 as a first bike. I know I have to respect the bike, one slip of the wrist could mean the difference between breathing and buried. Will take things easy for the first year and go on as many courses as possible Very Happy

It's not the bike, it's the rider. You're clearly going to get a supersports, and there's no sense in anyone suggesting otherwise - although Tef might have a go.

Heck, go straight for a litre bike, the cost difference is minimal and it'll be down to your right wrist either way. shereen might have an R1 for sale... Shifty

Many will say start with something like this.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0f/Puch_Maxi_.JPG

But nothing wrong with an R6, just remember you don't have a ton of metal protecting you - keep that wrist under control to you get used to it.

Nice car btw.

If you have that much money to spend on a new bike, why not buy an older, cheap one and use it for a month or so just to get used to the control and handling aspect...save damaging the new bike should anything bad happen especially at this time of year Thumbs Up

Thanks mate for advice Im a little impulsive, If I see something I like then I want it, Ill go all out and learn how to do it, I wont buy new, perhaps a year or two old one with under 10k miles.

Standard response to a bike pic, now applied to a car... All will become clear in time.
