Well my winter shed my Hyosung has developed a lovely hole just where the front pipe meets the engine. I've tried patching it but it's rusted through the pipe now. It's a bit loud from the blowing hole but I'm scrapping or selling it come Feb. Just wondering if it will have any ill effects riding it like this. As I refuse to pay 300quid on a new exhaust. Trying to not use my big bike through winter.

chopped up coke can and 2 stainless hose clips not do for now? I know for cars they do a paste/wrap bodge stuff that admittedly won't pass an MOT, but it's good as a temporary thing.

Like you could even buy a new exhaust for a Hyosung. Wink

Coke can is for shimming between ill fitting sections of exhaust. For a "durable" repair you need a baked beans tin, and it has to be Heinz. Thumbs Up

Gum gun applied to the exhaust then the ol' coke can bodge.
i personally wouldn't bother and would just blacksmith the issue out of existence though I'm not sure if you can do that too so...
Bodging is your option.

Does your bike have a sump-guard?

Mine had the same problem as this, hole in the outpipe just where it meets the engine block, I cut the bit of pipe with the hole in it out, and wedged a bit of wood between the sump-guard and the pipe which forced the cut in the pipe closed enough that the bike was running quiet. (replaced with a bit of metal later since the wood kept catching fire.)

This fix lasted eight months.
