Howdy do BcF People..
Well.. after a bit of dancing around in the mini workshop, Spooky accidentally spilt hot chocolate over his project stator
So.. now that other bike is gone, Spooky is trying to decide over the SV650 or the GS500 for his Uni commuting and etc
I have considered the...Ninja 500 (GPZ500) & the Honda Bros & the Hyosung GT 650R
In terms of fixing it..
If i can dismantle it there's 90% chance i'll be able to fix the problem.
Yes i have given all possibilities huge amounts of research time, thought and ergo-thinkage.
Spooky's Ergo's
6ft 5
14st
Loopy, Bendy & handsome
Honda Bros (Can't find one and not willing to travel FAR for a 400 regardless of its rep)
SV: Yea... Insurance is like 100 quid, keep it for like 5 months before the usual.
GT650R - i like it because its unusual but same insurance as the SV
(Understandable really)
GS5 Its weirdly comfy just like the ninja 500 but filtering on it, just isn't fun as its acceleration tosses salad unless i've played with the sprockets and etc
[Edit]
I have strongly considered the Ninja 250r, not sure how it is for commuting though
SO PEOPLE CAN YOU HELP ME!??! I'M IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY THIS IS VERY DIFFICULT... YA KNOW?!
P.S please don't suggest a Enduro or those TDM Looking things, i have to be able to put the bike in "those" neighbourhood's theres a good chance i won't see it again if i went for a TDM or KLR ____________________ Current Bike: Deciding Between GT650 or SV650S

Uni and Work and other tings' Mon!
kawak gpz500 isnt called the Ninja 500r? You sure?
You're the only person to quote that, anyway.
Usually on a horse it'd take me an hour and 15 mins to reach Uni.
Do i want a 125? or a 250? hell no. ____________________ Current Bike: Deciding Between GT650 or SV650S

It is the GPZ500, not a Ninja.
I ride 5 days a week, nearly 60 miles a day on a 125 with no issues at all, its on 70,500 miles now and still going strong as ever. Anything bigger sitting at 70 would burn fuel, this is so economical. |
15-16 miles in total 1 way
and another 15-16 back home roughly..
Work Mileage : 22 miles 1 way and around 22 miles back
125 simply because they don't cope very well with hills with sidewinds and i live around many hills..
I think a good number of people heard me screwing about small bore torque ____________________ Current Bike: Deciding Between GT650 or SV650S

Highly appreciate all responses
Providing insurance is lower than £90 pcm
I'll be keeping it for 6-7 months max, mainly cuz work frowns upon me riding the same thing for longer than 5 months.
Don't ask, i lost that argument/discussion/ heated conversation.
Max spend upon purchase of Steed would be around 1500-1800 max
Yes! i have searched hard around my travel possibilities and can't find my beloved favourite bike the ZZR600. it's pretty crushing to know i won't be able to get one YET but that's how the cookie crumbles..
Fairing would be taken off till i'm used to the bike as i really can't be bothered to repair fairing constantly or even go looking for alternatives and have them resprayed without cursing for hours on end.. heh
Bike starting in the cold..
If i can get a chinese bike to start 1st or 2nd time in the cold, frost and slush without to much hassle.. then that jap bike shouldn't be to much hassle ____________________ Current Bike: Deciding Between GT650 or SV650S

£90 insurance per month, so around £1000 a year. It is all circumstantial as we know, but my insurance is around £170 for the year so you should be ok there.

Very Good to know ..
and as for the " Dont ask" bit.
People LOVE the freedom of speech so much, they think it's fun to slander my taste in colour of bike, so i'm fed comments of how much they're tired of looking at it parked up out front making the building or their cars look FILTHY.
[Past tense]
i like to have a clean bike sometimes..
It stops police from slowing down to "look" at my bike and see if its legal and etc.
Clean Bike + Dirty reg plate = Good equation for filtering during rush hour ____________________ Current Bike: Deciding Between GT650 or SV650S

I'd say best way to find out is go down a used bike dealers or breakers and sit on a few to try them for yourself. |
Ugg ugg me bendy, me hobbies force bendy [caveman tongue]
Already have sat on it, hence me putting it up in the 1st post.
Test drive? im not test riding a anything i'm not used to in ice and frost, i can barely walk down the road without slipping on my arse 3-4 times.
To be honest, i found the SV and others to be quite comfy, though my feet feeling forward? i'm pretty used to that.
Mate has a Gixxer 6 and i can't stop not trying to rob him off it when he leaves the keys in the bike for 2 secs.
Any bike i get stays stock for 2 months maximum. ____________________ Current Bike: Deciding Between GT650 or SV650S

Even with my stumpy pins, I find myself pondering the possibility of fettling some "highway pegs" on my GPZ500. Not a big bike.
The only reason to call it a Ninja is to troll real Ninja owners.
How about a Bandit? They're a bit more man sized than either the GPZ or the SV, and you can get a nice example in your budget.
Actually, you could get a Divvy 900 in your price range. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
