Don't smoke but like carrying a lighter don't ask my why (although I do use it a lot), anyway I'm considering getting a wind-proof gas lighter.

Anyone able to recommend some or makes Question

Or would it be just going to ebay and getting a cheap one Question

Buy a cheap chuck-away type, that way you won't be annoyed if you lose it/someone 'borrows' it and never gives it back.

Thumbs Up

Ronson flameless.

But when you can get a chuck-away one with an LED torch/bottle opener built in for a quid, it's hard to know why you'd want to.

I had a pair of Turboflame lighters (the single flame ones) which lasted through about two years of heavy use before conking out, and I then got two more. The newer ones were shite though.

My experience with lighters has me using a cheap refillable one from the corner shop, since I don't smoke tobacco these days. Much cheaper and more reliable from recent experience!

Zippos are OK, but some people complain that they get a petrol taste after having their fag lit by one.

Also, the only thing that isn't covered by the lifetime guarantee is the hinge, which wears quicker of you have brass one, so buy steel.

You're not supposed to use petrol son....
Or
They are lighting the ciggie in the same way you would if using a cheapo plastic lighter.

There is no need to pull so hard on the ciggie when using a zippo.

I'm not sure how I feel about being called "son" by someone 14 years younger than me (happy BD, BTW) but I'll gloss over that for now Wink

Anyway, lighter fluid deffo smells (and, therefore, tastes) different to aerosol gas and I can tell the difference, so I can understand where the complainers are coming from.

Also, on an historical note, Zippos were standard issue to WWII GIs, who used to fill them up by tying them to a piece of string, then dangling them into jerry cans or the fuel tanks of jeeps, so petrol is an acceptable fuel.

Having said that, I've tried it, and you need to watch your eyebrows, plus it smokes like a bastard, so I would stick to those little tins you get in newsagents Smile

FFS, I've been smoking at least 20 a day since before you were born (rising up to 100, when you were about 10) mostly lit by a Zippo, I would've hoped I was doing at least that right by now Crying or Very sad
