PostPosted: 01:02 - 08 Dec 2012    Post subject: when did you last see your doctor ?? Reply with quote

today I was filling out a form that asked for my doctors name
I remembered my last doctor got struck off for using his Mrs as a punch bag
than I had to think the last time I seen him and it turns out it was in 2001
I did see a doctor in Holland in 03 when I woke up with pains in my chest
that turned out to be pleurisy

so I'm at a loss as to what to put in for my doctor as I don't think I actually have one Embarassed

Not for a couple of years. My medical record is one of the thinnest folders they have (my OH works in the local practice). Smile

If you registered with the surgery then just put that down.... because I don't know which doctor I'm going to see (never seen the same one twice in a row), rather than name of the doctor I leave that blank and fill in the address section

the practise doesn't exist any more as far as I know
it was a couple of portacabins in the local Asda carpark (they were building a new health centre)

apart from the occasional man flu I don't get ill or have any ongoing health issues
so I've not had the need to see a doctor, anyway they just tell you your ill and give you pills you don't really need

when I was young I was diagnosed with an Ulcer to for years I was on repeat prescription for Zantac & gaviscon
when I found out that a course of tablets could cure it I asked my doctor (wife beater) if I could try it
so he put me on it at my expense but it worked so never had the need to see a Doctor after that

Last year.

Before that about 15 years, which was probably why my doctor couldn't find any info on me, apart from I'm registered with them and was not new.

July for a walking problem this was the same as in 2010 (although that doctor has now been changed) an I've got a completely new doctor apparently oh and the problem never went away.

Before that 2010 eye problem couldn't see without excruciation pain (actual eye socket felt like it needed ripping out that painful) and I was finding it impossible to walk half a mile.

Before that had a doctor that talked with his eyes closed you could swear at him and he wouldn't notice he also diagnosed throat cancer (member of family) as a chest infection.

Apart from that, probably a few years gap between visits

---Thinking about it we've been living in the area for 7-8 years, and I've had 3 appontments in that time

As a working man, the chances of me getting to see a GP are somewhat less than coming home to find Alyson Hannigan and Felicia Day in my bed getting each other warmed up.

The missus occasionally takes the kids in to have their ears rotated or whatever, and reckons the only way to actually get an appointment is to be at the door at 8:30 when they open. If you're actually sick and can only phone in, forget about it.

So, in short, I have absolutely no idea. Certainly never at the practice that I'm currently registered with, so that'll be 6 years+.

Had some pre-tour health checks, all fine of course, they bloody sent me, didn't they! I tend to avoid the doctor as much as I can, maybe even when I should go. In the army it can be seen as weak or being a chancer due to all the people 'on the sick' all the time.

Fittest I've been for years, but I've been an inpatient in hospital twice in the last 2 months. Once for a week and overnight last week. Felt fine both times, but was rather poorly on both occasions. Oops.

Apart from jabs for foreign holidays, last time I went was 1990 for an ear infection.

Don't like the doctors surgery - it's full of ill people.

Hospital's worse. It's full of dead people who've not realised.

My practice does it.

I last went about a year ago, and about a year before that. Up 'till then I hadn't been for so long that when I asked for the last guy I saw the receptionist told me he'd been retired five years.

Did you get one of those forms asking if you want to see your medical records summary too? I haven't looked at mine closely enough to see what they need from me... Thumbs Up

Irritatingly often over the past 2 years. 6 months worth of cold, coughing fits and shortness of breath turned out to be athsma, which we're still trying to get a grip on effective treatment of. At one point, I was reviewed at the end of each inhaler, so about once a month. Before that, only had one visit in about 15 years, when I had glandular fever!
