Nooo, what a shame. He was a legend and seemed like a really nice guy. He had a lifelong hatred of Germans after his fiance was killed in a bombing raid during WW2 and he stayed single for the rest of his life after that, really sad story.

I used to write to him as a kid and was invited to The Farthings once. He fostered my interest in astronomy and encouraged me and no doubt did the same for many many others. He replied to every letter sent to him personally. A remarkable man, responsible for much of the knowledge and mapping we have of our moon. A truly sad loss. R.I.P. Patrick.
