Bit of a general moan and word of warning;

I wanted to change my insurance policy from a CB500 I no longer own, to my YBR125. I tried to do it on Saturday but they were "updating their systems" and couldn't access or change anyones details. Slightly annoying as it was ready for an MOT on Saturday and I couldn't take it.

Phone lines opened at 8 am and it took an hour of being on hold (2 seperate calls - 1 on hands free, 1 from office) before I got through, by hanging up the customer services and phoning sales.

Sales then ignored everything I said and tried to do a new quote. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Sorted it in the end, premium was £13 which is fine but the admin fee was £35! Wtf!

eBike next time for sure....!

why are you moaning about an admin fee? everyone knows insurance companies charge admin so you have to expect it.

I did expect a small fee, but £35 for less than 5 minutes work was a bit salty, no?

Garth, yes it is, but as always its in the small print and you are within your rights to cancel the policy if you disagree with these conditions post purchase, or read them pre-purchase

it truely is a piss take, i can't argue against that.

Joe, never used eBike as they are always to expensive, but good on them for not charging an admin fee, despite it being on their site

I had the exact same problem with Hastings when I had my car insured with them. Every single time I tried to phone them after taking out the policy, it took a minimum of half an hour on hold to get through. However, phone their sales line and its instant. I think its also a premium rate number so I reckon they were doing it deliberately. Binned them off when it came to renewal time an won't be going back!

Just on the flip side with Hastings, we recently scrapped the Wife's car, just before insurance ran out, due to a house move completely forgot to tell them and they charged my CC for a renewal. Their T&C's state a 14 day cooling off period but with a £25 admin charge so phoned them to cancel and accept the fee. No probs with the cancellation and when I mentioned the fee they said we won't charge you that as it was a genuine mistake...

Quite pleased with that, so not all bad.
