2 years ago when the entire country was snowed in, i parked my bike on its side stand for a week on what felt like solid ground. All was well until the thaw came

Ground softened and stand sank into grass. Bike fell over

I have never done it again

I wanted to keep my bike in the living room, working on the logic that because we've got this laminate flooring stuff down, there's no carpet to stain if/when oil drips.

Some places/things I try not park my bike on or near to: level crossings, ferry boarding ramps or near to car crushing plants in breaker's yards.

No lesson needed really.

I hope this helps some of you.

I have found the whole of Somalia to be unsuitable for parking your bike safely.

I've done the same.

But in summer.

On tarmac.

Reckon they must have had pikies in to do the tarmac in the flats I lived in, because it couldn't handle a bike side-stand on a hot day!
