What do you lot use to keep warm part from thick/warm gear. Wondered if any of you have tried anything like this?

Hand guards + heated grips sounds like a win to me as well!

Heated seat seems pretty pointless to me. My core region is always the warmest anyway and the seat never gets so cold it penetrates through to my body. Start wearing full thermals, that may help more than you think.

Not sure mine always ices up in weather such as today, makes going around corners annoying as you are sliding off the seat.

Eh? Surely any ice on the surface of the seat will either crack and fall off or just melt as you sit on it.

Mine was iced today @ 8pm.

Sat on it with jeans, not too bad. My muffs on the other hand are solid Shocked

I make sure to scrape it off before I ride. Otherwise I get a wet crotch...

I don't use thick warm gear.

I use a heated jacket, heated trousers, heated grips, heated seat pad, Goretex coat and trousers and plastic over gear.

Heated seats are nice but get possibly too hot, nice all the same.

Thanks, I will be buying one of those kits or something like it.

Can't have too many heated things, I wish I had a heated seat this morning!

PS, lightly punching the seat whilst wearing gloves is the quickest way to de-ice it.

Make sure you have a reg/rec in stock and know how to change it... You will be getting through quite a few of them if you start loading the electrics with heated stuff.
All the ones I have seen suffer from connecting leads that flap around and eventually fail, keep an eye on the connectors too.

Some good thermals and a one piece coverall keeps the cold out and your body heat in, the best piece of winter riding gear you can get.

My way of avoiding the cold snap at the moment is working from home. It's awesome. Very Happy I am turning into a big jessie though.

How many reg/rec's have you changed on your ER6F Sickpup? Given that I understand the first one usually goes within the first 20k anyway, that one doesn't count...

If anything, the more you put onto it, the less work the reg/rec is doing assuming the magneto is putting out plenty.

I'd like you to example how pulling more power from the bike will make it go bang.

I too, have heated jacket, seat & grips (paired with handlebar muffs) and as yet, I've not gotten cold this year. Last night I wore leggings and a tee shirt to work underneath my textiles.

yeah all of the heated things break. They are naff.

Your can warm up your hands by heating your body core more. So layer up, and silk gloves inside your normal gloves does wonders. I still use my summer gloves with silk gloves inside. Thumbs Up

So thats just short of 3 years my jacket has lasted for which suggests you are talking absolute rubbish.

There is no better way to warm your core than a heated jacket.

I wear silk gloves under my normal ones and they do help somewhat however my hands still get icy cold (just less painfully icy cold)

I've resorted to bar muffs however the cheapys i got have gaps in the side so my thumbs still get cold, which i'm rectifying tonight (only fitted them last night)

I don't bother with heating my body as with my shirt, jumper and jacket i'm never really cold enough to warrant such things, heated seat sounds like overkill, can't say i've ever got a cold bum while riding

I think the point would be to overheat your core, so it expells heat through your extremities. That's what I do, and it helps. I won't ride when there's ice about though.
