So I walk into college the other evening with all my bike tackle still on as it was well nippy.

Still had my https://images.esellerpro.com/2189/I/521/42/lrgscale5003-Black-Windproof-Motorcycle-Black-Balaclava-1.jpg on
as well as my lid in this position, exactly: https://www.twowheel.co.uk/images/detailed/42/caberg-duke-open-2.jpg

Thought I'd catch the lift up to the seventh floor as I was running late and pose for a look in the lift on the way up.

Any way door opens, three middle aged women appear, shriek, tell me to take my lid off, I lol and say no, other one pipes up "that’s illegal" again I lol and am like wut, I enter lift storey end.

Probably wasn't the best response from me, just dont approve being ordered by strangers. Made me titter anyhow, thought it share it.

tl;dr I stand waiting for a lift with no face, frighten three ignorant women the end.

All staff are supposed to wear red staff lanyards, students black, but it doesnt always happen so Im unsure.

Work there or not, although I was faceless, with the front part of the lid down and no balaclava underneath all you'd see is my eyes which doesnt give much away.

Oh dear this is almost becoming a petrol station lid rant Laughing

I'd wear mine if I wanted to but remove it as you miss a lot of peripheral info when in crowds.

shame you didn't engage the dull cow and find out where she'd got such nonsense from.

I was in court on monday and I went through the scanners and into the waiting room with my lid still on as I was carrying a bag and had my gloves and paperwork in the other hand. security didn't even attempt to make me remove it. they were only g4s though...

Similar effect can also be achieved wearing no pants in public.

is that offence not preceded by the word "intentionally" in the public order act?

how would she prove intent? he's just a biker going about his day to day business in a manner he finds convenient.

You do look a bit of a cock wearing a helmet off a bike and a total cock wearing one indoors IMHO.

Being from Blackburn with a massive asian popularity, the colleges are plagued by full veil wearers. I'd just argue that it's pretty much the same principle.

Massive LOL at someone saying it's illegal. Thought the law was there to keep people on the good side of 'moral'? Not to keep them as sheep.

Thing I hate most is when people say 'YOU CAN'T DO THAT!' without any understanding of why it's not 'allowed'. Forgive the overly used facebook activist buzzword but.... Sheeple....

There's a separate offence of intentional. Accidental is just fine for £1000.

There's a defence of reasonable belief that nobody would be alarmed or distressed. Gamble on that at your peril, you know how magistrates just love bikers... Very Happy

I wonder how many people in Ipswich during the summer could fall foul of this. Often it's extremely distressing to see robust people squeezed into clothing that's really 10 sizes too small :/

An office or college is not a dwelling - the dwelling part is to allow people to do what they want in their own/friend's homes.

When people try pulling that on me I ask them to name the statute that prohibits what I am doing and the year it gained royal assent.
